This is a great place to go for a walk any time of day. You’ll be among birds, families, young couples, the occasional jogger and dog walkers. Wheelchair accessible for the most part. There’s a bike path that runs along side the pedestrian area, so use caution when crossing the street to check out a restaurant or shop. It is cobblestone, with some minor uneven areas, but most folks won’t need to worry about rolling an ankle here. Some areas have lovely shade trees, some not. My favorite times to visit were after breakfast and after dinner in July.

A delightful route to almost anywhere, including the ferryboats up the lake as far as Switzerland. Enjoy

The stroll from Piazza del Popolo to the railway station of Arona is a very relaxing walk with great views of the lake. In sunny days thed Alps are visible. The area has been recently refurbished and it is even better than before

I lived in on the lake for 8 months all up. Nearly all seasons except Summer. The other months here for me were peaceful, hardly a soul or tourist around, just locals doing their daily thing. IF you want life perhaps come around Summer time, if you want more local life come to visit in Spring and Early winter.

The medieval streets, paved with cobblestones, full of boutiques, cafes and shops, lead to a wider are right by the lake.
There are many magical views along the lake shore. Take a stroll on the pavement, relax on some of the benches, check some good angles of the platans with the castle in the background, see a statue of sailor, watch mist float above the water of Lago Maggiore.

Even though it was rainy and gloomy when we visited, the lungo lago still showed its beauty. To make it flourish, I recommend to visit on a nice, sunny day, also for a better visibility of the towns and castle on the other side of the lake.

It's really worthwhile taking a stroll along the lake shore and probably head over on the ferry to Angera to see Arona from that vantage point.

It's a very pleasant ramble along the Lungolago in Arona, and unlike it's close and busier neighbour Stresa, there are lots of benches where you can sit and enjoy the views. All very clean too, we will be back!

You‘ll get it all, great view, nice weather, splendid lake, extraordinary italian aperitifs, excellent food, remembering gelato, good shops, music, very nice and friendly people, typical old north italian town and places, feeling the history, etc...

Tourists are most italian from milano or other places in the north...

Get the italian feeling there!!!
