Great location for the annual Opera Festival. I have been going there many times over the last 30 years, and I must say that the arena Sferisterio is a unique place to enjoy the magic of the "opera lirica". I recommend watching the opera at...More

Whether or not you are an opera buff, Sferisterio is well worth while visiting because its enormous stage is unique, in the shape of a sphere - hence the name. They only perform three operas each season, and whilst the city does not have too...More

Amazing experience. Classic Italian operas under the stars! The venue was both times that we were there fully packed. The town has special free multi-level parkings available for guests of the Sferisterio. Recommend to book a dinner in advance, arrive earlier, calmly have dinner and...More

Very beutiful arena prepared to host very special concerts and shows. Super stars of the classical repertoir were hosted by this historical site such as Placido Domingo or Maria Callas. The opera season starts mid July until August, just to consider.

I was been many times in this open air theater. I think it's just perfect for live concert snd open air theater.

A privelige to enjoy Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood perform in such a beautiful venue which is traditionally home to the Annual Opera Festival. Oriniginally built as a sports venue in early 1800's this housed a popular game similar to squash before football became teh...More

Great open air theater, the supertitles in Italian and English were projected on the wall. The staging was minimalustic but efficient, not very happy with the production concept and ballet. Overall valuable experience

This was one to cross off our bucket list, having missed the opera season by a few weeks on previous visits to the region. Great atmosphere and very clever set designs. Because Sferisterio run different operas on consecutive nights, the stage sets need to be...More
