Christmas Day stroll along the lungomare, what could go wrong!? Forget the parking police in full force on the Holy day, but how about blaring loud rap music along the entire boardwalk to a point it was actually uncomfortable, Especially when they are using such vulgarity in the music! Granted most Italians don’t speak English so maybe they don’t know how crude the language being rapped is.... but surely not being able to carry on simple conversation without yelling over the speakers is a problem. Every year Diamante is proving to be a place in Calabria you can skip. We ended, traveling a little further south to Belvedere and it was a pleasure to hear the waves crash and enjoy a wonderful walk and lunch.

We went to Diamante for a morning stroll to see the murals. Although the info office was closed, we wandered across many tiny streets and saw quite a few murals. The shops were open and on the main street had plaques of the murals. We bought one and the shop owner told us that she had done that one - then she told us where to find it. We did that promptly and of course took our picture in front of the mural.

Art lovers , photographers--or those interested in community expression... We went to Diamonte to see the murals.... My husband recently working on a project of photos of the murals in the Arts District Los Angeles, California. Diamonte murals represent a wide range of artists from all over . The murals are inclusive of political statements; books banned all over the world, local fishing accidents, Catholic murals signed in Arabic, murals telling stories for children; pictures of local conversations, jokes....all treated with respect -- noted was an absence of graffiti or painting over. We set forth each day and found more and more... in alleys, on sides of towers , Anyone remember searching for the " Nina's" in the Sunday New York Times cartoons by Al Hirshfield? Like That.... every day we found another mural in the most unexpected place. Lots of places to stop , enjoy the view, the community, and great food. Thank you Diamonte!!!
