Booked on the day trip to Agios Nickolas, Elounda and Spinalonga . We were picked up on time from Malia. Our tour guide Elena as very good with lots of commentary throughout the trip and clear instructions regarding meeting points / times. Got to spend free time in several places . The stop at Spinalonga was very interesting - thought provoking . Had a lovely relaxing day .

We were picked up by car and taken to the tour bus early am. The guides spoke in English, French and Russian. Irini the English/French translator was superb - her knowledge and friendly approach was one of the best we had experienced. The monastery, the cave and pottery were very interesting. Lunch at a taverna surrounded by old windmills was good - delicious stuffed pepper and tomato. Then to Knossos Palace with an excellent comentary from Irini. A taxi was laid on for my huband and I for return to Iraklio. Thank you Irini.

We were picked up from outside the hotel by a lovely lady in a minibus. Taken to meet the bus and our English speaking guide Kate. The bus was pretty full of all nationalities. Got to our first stop the monastory to be told we were being transferred to our own English speaking mini bus. All 9 of us including driver and guide. After that it was great. Our own very special private tour. An excellent day. Thank you everyone for making it so special

Our supposed 11 hour excursion took 13 hours, 6 hours of which were in the bus picking up from some 15 hotels etc. on the way. Whilst everyone else seemed to be picked up from these hotels, we had to walk 25 minutes to a designated pick up spot (at 10:30 on the evening before, our hotel was telephoned to tell us we had to be there 35 minutes before the time previously set) - both typical of the poor organisation.

We met our English-speaking guide (Roxani) for the first time when got off the bus at the end of the excursion - no idea where she was for the rest of the time.

The whole experience was topped off by being offered "rubber" meat and a plastic knife and fork at lunch.

We couldn't wait for it to end - in short, don't do it!

Had to take a taxi from the Blue Palace back to Agios Nikolaos then the boat back to Spinalonga and reverse, when the Island was straight out a couple hundred meters from the hotel. There is a boat from the pier in Plaka that would have saved us 4 hours and a couple hundred euros if Trip advisor would have given us the option. Also the “tour” of Spinalonga consisted of a lady taking us into a cavern and lecturing us on the history of the island rather than a walking tour. Google could have told us all about the history.

We are sorry for your unpleasant experience but you have reviewed the wrong product. We are Altino Travel and our boat departs from Elounda not from Agios Nikolaos that you mention. Furthermore, had you booked with us we would have informed you about the non-sensical itinerary that you mention.

What a fantastic all round trip.Sadly we missed our pick up,but was put right when a small minibus collected us along with two ladies,to continue with our trip. The guide was brilliant,he called himself Roman and was a great guy.His knowledge was unbelievable and on route he took us to additional places,(st Georges church and very close to the shores of the sunken city.Wow ! The journey by minibus was just what we wanted. All four of us enjoyed the experience that Roman provided, and at no extra cost !!.The boat trip was gorgeous, the sea was turquoise and the sun was beating down.just below 40* C but with the cooling wind, most acceptable.Air conditioning on in bus ! Spinalonga was so pretty and quite spiritual,a place we will never forget. The captain of the Greek vessel was very accommodating. He allowed us to swim near the beach from the boat.It was a little cool, but soooo refreshing. Agios Nikolaos was a lovely small fishing village, and very pretty.Lots of eateries and a small market (Wednesdays). The fresh food, fruit and produce was pure Greek.Very fresh and tasty.
This was by far the best excursion and value for money we had in the 9 days we spent in Crete.
Thank you to Roman and the skipper, great guides and friendly people.

Me and my family had a great experience looking around this island, with lovely views and friendly people. The only down fall was uneven paths which could pose a problem to some. And without a guide you don't really get to interact or learn about the island. But I would still call it a great experience to do when your in the area.

My error in thinking that this was a small group tour because pick-up was offered. We got ferried to a big bus and this took so long we arrived when there were loads of other buses there. Would have been better to take a taxi or local bus and get there early! Although our guide was very knowledgeable, there were so many of us trying to hear him that we missed a lot of what he said. We slipped away and walked around ourselves until meeting the bus to head back to the museum. We then departed from the trip and went to the museum ourselves - far better experience than going around with a large group in this wonderful museum. Big group tours are not for us..

Every day two large and one very large ships full of tourists (approx. 700 in total) leave from Kissamos port to a one day boat trip to Balos beach and Gramvousa island and back. To boats leave around 10:30 and on at 12:00 which spreads out the number of people. Nevertheless you share the beach with hundrest of tourists. The beach is nice, the water super crystal cleare (both at Balos and on Gramvousa).
The overall experience was OK - my kid liked it. Don't expect a romantic experience - it's mass tourism!

Fun fact: People being late for the departure of the ship, waving and shouting - captain turned the ship to pick them up.

The prices of the food and drinks on board are okay. At lunch there is one kind of hot meal available. 1/2 an hour before you return to the port of Kissamos there is "happy hour" with reduced prices on cocktails and beer.

Recommendation: Try to get a ticket for one of the two smaller boats. Don'T forget to bring enough water, shade and sun screen.
You can reach Balos beach also by car and walking - but: the road is not paved and you need to walk at least 1h to get from the end of the road down to the beach (and up again!)

Day tour to a swimming location and guided tour of Spinalonga. Medium sized boat which was busy but not too full. Great staff both on board and guiding around the island. Spinalonga was a really interesting place but the guide made it even more memorable with her telling of the islands people, their exploits and achievements. Thoroughly recommended.
