We've been there several times and it's a nice place to walk around, get ice-cream or eat a meal.
The steps going down to the bridge are very steep, but there is a little elevator for older people or families with strollers that you can use that goes up and down.

The Seebrücke has a spectacular approach. From the town a steep set of stairs leads down to the little Kurhaus and pier from la belle époque.
The house is a restaurant/café, inside designed in an Art Deco fashion. The pier leads to a diving bell - Tauchgondel Sellin - which is a metal contraption with room for some 15-20 people. It dives down (attached to a pole) and the intention is that you should be able to watch the "wildlife" in the sea. Which is somewhat limited due to the rather muddy water. Your'e not exactly in a tropical coral reef environment...

The restaurant offers a variety of quite good food for a lunch. The point is of course the location, not the food itself. Lovely to sit on the pier landing with a glass of something in front of you...
If you don't fancy the numerous steps back uphill, there is a sort of combined elevator/funicular as an option.

If you're in the vicinity, it's worth a visit.
If you come by car, there's a fairly large parking lot nearby up in the town.

The restaurant at Seebrucke Sellin has lovely atmosphere and décor with attentive and friendly service. A visit to this gorgeous building is recommended but do not expect too much as regards to food because it was fairly average. The fish soup for starter was tasty but quite pricey for the small serving. The cod for main was utterly delicious however it was served with 3 lumps of cold mashed potato which were so solid one could have built a house with it. Make sure you get a table near the window so you can enjoy the lovely view over the water. This is a very relaxed venue so do not turn up in fancy gear.
