Beautiful beautiful view. The building looks great. The way up is also amazing. 100% must see attraction if you are in this region

A nice climb up from the town. Unfortunately the Citadel itself was not open on our visit, however the beautiful views all aroundm West to the Luberon and East to the Alps, made the walk well worth while. Recommended.

I have been her before. this time it was raining, but it didn't curb our enthusiasm. The climb is easy, even for elderly, with plenty of sitting stops. The zenith was the superb views over the Provencal landscape and the exquisite yet simple interiors of the chapel - worth every moment!

Worth the climb: breathtaking view, neat chapel with musician angels, unique carillon, remains of the stronghold of the counts of Provence

A little exercise is always good after lunch. I would recommend this walk for people young and old, in a group or by oneself. On a sunny clear day, you can see far and wide including the beautiful mountains.

Wind through the alleys gradually making your way up the hill. Just follow your nose and you will get there.

The walk up to the Citadelle is well worth it. It’s a lovely up hill walk where you’re rewarded with beautiful views when you reached the top. The walk up could get tiring for young children or anyone who struggles to walk.

Spend some time strolling in the old part of the city browsing the many ateliers (painters and other arts). If you can afford to climb some 300 m (slowly) take one of the may path bringing you on top of the hill where there was the citadelle. Now there is only a small octagonal church. The walk is nice if you take it easy (absolutely not suited for wheel chairs).
When you reach the top of the hill you can appreciate a very nice panorama with an explanation table facing east.

Forcalquier is a lovely hill town, beyond the most touristy parts of the Luberon - about 40 mind drive on from Apt. The centre is well preserved, some good bistros and restaurants, and slightly quirky individual shops.

Climb all the way to the top to see amazing views from the ruined Citadelle - pathway is quite steep but the views over to the Apls are well worth it!

This most unusual structure is in the middle of the town. The walk up to the top of its hill is good exercise and the views from the top are well worth the effort. Forcalquier is a very pretty town with a regular market and loads of Gites available.
