Terrible maintenance off the Ski area, off course wether conditions have a great influence but yesterday there was no excuse and because off less experienced snowboarder and a fall my vacation was destroyed. But a great assistance from the emergency people.

That was quite a surprise! We were there just for 2 days so it was by flipping the coin that we chose Zillertal Arena over Mayrhofen or Kaltenbach and what treat that was!
It takes a full day of skiing to make the tour through some really nice cruising reds and a couple of blacks that are really ok if you are intermediate and above. The panorama is great, the slope grooming and snow quality up to pefection, plenty of space to enjoy skiing and a lift system that works amazingly! Of course the resort is expansive and you can easily spend 3 days without stepping on the same slope twice. If you like powder than this is also the place to be as almost in every point you can go off piste and pick your own track. Will be back again and again, thank you Zillertal Arena!

Great Ski Area from Zell am Ziller through Gerlos and Koenigleiten and on to Hochkrimml, fabulous views of Gerlos Reservoir from Gerlos and Koenigsleiten. Accessible also by local Postbus in both directions Zell am Ziller Bahnhof to Gerlos Pass and Koenigsleiten and return - Gerlos Pass drop off giving great access to the quiet, easier slopes of Hochkrimml which are great for beginners/improvers and are usually quieter than other parts of the Arena. Views in all directions are stunning.
Also easy access by both Postbus and Train to both the Mayrhofen Ski Area and Kaltenbach/Fugen if you have the appropriate Lift Pass which covers the whole Ziller Valley, some amazing skiing.

Huge area, so many choices, especially for intermediate runs. I wish they would update a few of the lifts at the top, where fast, sheltered ones would be better in the strong winds. One day they did little grooming so conditions were terrible in the fog. Price good compared to N. America.

Arena offers you the mountains and all you should do is skiing. Nice prepared routes, big ski area, a lot of choise in difficulties. A ski resort for the starter and experienced skier.

These coasters are little cars you go in on a track down the mountain. You have control of a brake but they go really fast if you let them - enough to be healthily scary. It was great fun and only 5.40 euros. They snap a photo of you during the ride and it’s only 4 euros. The photo also has a scan code so you can get the digital photo on your phone and upload to Facebook, etc. Very worthwhile.

Bonjour,
Nous partons la 3e semaine de mars à Hintertux.
L'enneigement est-il correct aux altitudes plus basses que celle du glacier ?
Merci !

Would you recommend to make a reservation for a ski equipment in advance or there is no problem to rent skis upon arrival? In any case, what would be the best rental place? We are planning ski vacation in February 2017. Thank you!

In terms of ski rental facilites, you can find many shops in the Zillertal Arean as well as other town nearby the area. The ski boots and skies are relatively new and the shops offers insurance cover. However, the prices might be higher than the shops in the cities of Austria and Germany. If your arrival airport in Germany, I can recommend to rent your skiing equipments in Germany if it will not create to much work for you.
In terms of skiing comfort and technical services during your stay, I do like Zillertal Area. Please enjoy your skiing and apreschi (apre-ski) parties time:))
