Great tour. The actual factory was not in operation on the day I went (in the dry season they only operate machinery 3-4 days per week), so I had an informed tour instead where the process was explained whilst showing the machines. The tour guide was very informative and I loved the tour. I would recommend calling ahead of check what days the machinery is operating as I can imagine this would make the tour that extra bit better. It cost $3 per person and was worth every penny!

We were given a tour of the factory preceded by a very detailed explanation on the tea making process. Everything was fascinating and it was clear that the guide (Mr S Sivananthan) had a real passion and expertise in tea. We then got to taste the tea and support the factory by buying some in the gift shop. Sadly, the factory was closed as we went during a holiday but that did not stop our guide from showing us how each piece of machinery worked and all the aspects of the factory.

Great tour with tour guide s. Sivanathan where our kids were more excited than they - as teenagers - expected. One bought tea and said he will for the next years drink nothing else in the mornings. Great place

The tea factory tour is informative and immersive. You see the real workings of the factory and end with a tasting of the different types of teas. You learn a lot about the history of tea in Sri Lanka, the chemical process at play in making tea, the trade of tea in Sri Lanka, and how each step of the process works. For those that like to nerd out on production processes for things they like, this is a great tour. The tea is very inexpensive compared to US prices. We stocked up before heading home.
