It was named after the late Senator Ninoy Aquino who was assasinated in August 21, 1983 which became the catalyst for the fall of the incumbent government during those turbulent times. It also created the “Peoples Power Revolution” that used non-violent civil resistance to gain freedom. It’s the reason why this park is called “Freedom Park”. I hate to say this but what is sad is that this park doesn’t look like what a park should be. It was better looking when I passed by a year ago. Now, it looks uncared and not well tended. I hope that the reason that gives rise to this park is not forgotten.

The Freedom Park is located in front of the Negros Oriental Capitol Building. For someone who jogs early in the morning, it's a pretty decent place to do it. We just missed Buglasan 2018 so some remnants from the fun-filled festival (as it looks) are still in the park: installations, tarpaulins and stalls. But plenty of people will be with you here for their morning exercises as well.

The park is so visible. It is located in the heart of the city adjacent to the people's park. It's a splurging area serving as an esplanade after a days' work or a day of school. Green and fresh - - when in Dumaguete, never miss this place.

The park is used for special celebrations like the local festivals and such, but otherwise is an empty expanse of grass that has little to offer in terms of year-round amenities and comfort. Few benches or covered areas, and those are close to the smelly traffic that blankets this little city with their toxic fumes.

A nice local Park with big space. Sometimes free events are held within the park like exercise classes which are always great! Close within Dumaguete, not much to look at in the park but if you like to go for a stroll or need a big space this is it!

We asked the locals what there local attractions were and this was one of the answers. We saw this white big building and a huge lawn in front. Just took a picture by the road sign. Then we went to the wet market next to buy pasalubong and we loved the longganisa, then we had to sample the kakwate and sticky rice suman at the market, so so, but the people were a delight to mingle with, always nice and smiling and everybody was like extended family.

The park is a perennial haven for the annual gathering for the showcase of arts and talents in NEGROS ORIENTAL.For any art enthusiasts,it gives one a truly heavenly experience where the artistry meets ingenuity of the NEGRENSES.The famous show is the OCTOBERFEST of the so called Buglasan Festival.

Just a plain ground with some playing equipment for kids to enjoy. Not a good place to by stand actually. I notice that Aside from those playing football/soccer on the field and the watchers no other people present in the area.
