Haridwar is called Hari Ka Dwar which means Gateway of God. Its ancient name is Mayapuri which is located on the banks of Ganga River. Haridwar is famous for Ghats where devotees take holy dip to get rid of Sins. Major and famous ghats in Haridwar are Har Ki Pauri, Narayani Ghat, Kushavarta Ghat, Ram Ghat, Brahma Kund, Birla Ghat, Gau Ghat, Vishnu Ghat and VIP Ghat.
Travelling 243 km from Gomukh, the Ganges River enters Haridwar first in the plains, after joining Bhagirathi River at Dev Prayag. So Haridwar is also known as Gangadwar.
Interesting Facts about Birla Ghat:
1. Birla Ghat is located at walkable distance from Vishnu Ghat which is famous for less Crowd. Similar like Vishnu Ghat, Birla Ghat is also less crowded and provides a peaceful atmosphere. Devotees feels very comfortable to have bath here.
2. Birla Ghat is one of the old Ghat of Haridwar. This was renovated by Birla family and hence its called as Birla Ghat. Safety barriers have been installed here by keeping safety of the devotees in mind. The architecture of the ghat is noteworthy, reflecting a blend of traditional and modern elements. The bridge near this Ghat adds special attraction to this ghat.
3. Like Ganga Aarti at Hari Ka Pauri, here also Ganga Aarti ceremony held in the evening, where priests perform a worship ritual to the river Ganga.

Birla Ghat is a bathing ghat located in Haridwar. It is relatively cleaner and quieter than Har Ki Pauri ghat and hence people can take bath peacefully. Chains and bars at the river side makes the ghat a lot safer to take a dip in the Holy Ganga.

Nice neat and clean Ghat very near to the Vishnu Ghat. Security barriers for safety of devotees are provided to protect them from slipping in the flowing water of holy Ganga. Swatch Bharat campaign must continue to maintain this place. Lots of shops and food stalls are also available at this Ghat. You may take dip in the holy River.

Birla Ghat is also amongst many ghats of Gangaji in Haridwar.
We had a stay at an ashram just overlooking Birla Ghat. It's a Bengal based ashram with extremely beautiful Durga Maa temple. One must consider this place for accomodation. (Extra reviews!)
Ya so like all other ghats, at Birla Ghat too Ganga Aarti is done every evening. It's much less crowded than the famous Har Ki Paudi. You can take part in the aarti. It's beautiful.

Nice scene and memorable experience. Huge Shiv statue. One can actually see the change in course of the Ganges from what it originally was. Offered a great picturesque view during dawn.
