We visited the temple during the afternoon hours in our recent trip to Haridwar. We had a wait time of 30mnts. or so and had a lovely darshan. We used an e-Rikshaw to get to the temple from our hotel. There are counters to deposit your footwear within the temple complex. So, keep your footwear on until you are inside the temple complex. The grounds were hot and we couldn't be without our footwear for long. Parking is available. Enjoy your visit and do not go in front of other people who are waiting in line.

This temple is central to the holiness of Haridwar and in the heart of Kankhal which the oldest part of town. Understanding the story of the death and commemoration of Lord Shiva’s wife is fascinating. The area has offices of the 13 Hindu cults/denominations and many ashrams. The walk along the water front of the Ganges is spectacular including sights of cremations.

The Daksheswar Mahadev Temple is a Shiva temple named for King Daksha Prajapati, who was the father of Sati, while Sati was the first consort of Shiva. Daksheswar Mahadev Temple is one of the many temples in Haridwar and purely from an aesthetic point of view, it’s not all that interesting.

its our perception that we have to do the darshan of DAKSH Temple before & after CHARDHAM Yatra , Daksh is a fathe in law of Lord Shive , a ancient yagya kund is there , you have to enter from back side of temple where yagya kund is there , Its a real a good experience to visit there. Must see a place where SATI was born at other end of the temple , one temple of Shitala devi where SATI was born. Daksh Ghat on GANGA wife wash & clean a leg of her husband & do pooja.

This is the place where sati surrendered her mortal body to the fire leading Shiva to start his tandev. A big complex with several temples and very peaceful. For our kid the highlight is meeting guru ji at hangman temple who has taken the vow of silence. You'll always find him smiling and gifting kids prase of toffees, pens and hangman chalisa. The road to the temple is a little rough and passes through the main bazaar.

We visited this temple which is associated with ancient Hindu mythology as part of our trip to Kankhal from Haridwar.Daksha Mahadev temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the town of Kankhal, about 4 km from Haridwar and is named after King Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati(wife of Shiva). The temple site is the place as per Hindu mythology where King Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati, Shiva's first wife, performed Yagna where Shiva was not invited and Sati immolated herself on the Yagna kund and what happended to Daksha we all know. The temple complex is big and well maintained. One can touch the Shiva linga and offer flower, milk and prayers.Next to the main temple is the Das Mahavidya temple, which is a venue for devotees of Devi to congregate for special pujas during the Navratri celebrations. There is also a temple in the complex dedicated to Ganga river and next to the temple is the Daksha Ghat on the Ganges - though the river is dirty here.

I am a spiritual traveller and have visited the Daksheshwara Mahadev Temple a few times. It is where the story for Goddess Sati began. The temple is the Ganges and powerful place to worship Lord shiva and Giddess Sati. We need to visit these temples with reverence and also try to find an expert who can give the background and guide on how to do the puja etc. often priests are there but they are not able to explain its significance fully. It is not a place for causal visitors. Each time the knowledge deepens and the experience is enhanced.
I have found each of my trips spiritually uplifting. Do remember to visit the Dasa Maha Vidya temple of the 10 wisdom goddess, seek the blessing from Mauni Baba at the Ganesha Temple, and visit the many small temples in the main temple area and also go the the nearby Sheetala Devi temple (it is in the same complex), the belief is that goddess Sati was born there.

This is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said that once goddess Parvati was born as a dughter to the king of Himalaya Raja Daksh. Parvati married Lord Shiva without the consent of her father as he didn't like Shiva's external appearance. Once King Daksh performed a big Yajna in which he invited all the gods except Lord Shiva and Parvati. When Parvati went her fathers house uninvited ( Lord Shiva had forbidden her but she didn't comply with), she found no seat for her husband and in anger she jumped into the holy fire. Finally he revenged. On that place Dakshewar Mahadev Temple is built. The temple is not very grand but it has a great importance and faith of Hndus.
The temple is situated on the bank of river Ganges to the south of the city of Haridwar.

You can see the ancient Yajna Kund (sacred fire place for Pooja) still there. The place where Sati, wife of Lord Shiva immolated herself.
The special electric feel goes through your mind when you see that you are standing at a place where such things happened.
