Maya Devi Temple which is located very close to Har-ki-Pauri is dedicated to goddess Maya. This temple is a Shakti Peeth since as per Hindu mythology, heart and navel of goddess Sati fell in the region where the temple stands today.
Goddess Maya is the presiding deity of Haridwar and Haridwar was previously known as Mayapuri in reverence to this deity. The temple is one of three Sidha Peethas located in Haridwar, the other two being Chandi Devi Temple and Mansa Devi Temple.
Though it is not big and spectacular but worth a visit for its religious significance.

Before going to Haridwar, when I browsed web, I got the information that Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi temples are the two sidh peeth temples and Maya Devi is the Shakti peeth. It was said that the Goddess Naval and heart fell at this place and hence I wanted to visit this place. It was very difficult for us to spot this temple as it had a small entrance. It is situated directly behind the Gita Bhawan. There are five moorthies of the Goddess and yes, it is a small temple with people staying around(like a colony or a Dharmsala). After seeing Chandi devi and Mansa Devi crowd, this place was quite with much less people. I still am not sure whether I visited the shakti peeth temple only or not. But then, I still visited a Devi Mandir - who blesses the entire universe! If you plan to go, browse web for the photo of the entrance and remember that. It will help you in finding the place

Haridwar 's old name is Mayapuri which is derived from Mayadevi, the presiding deity of this ancient city! But strangely, it is not widely known. One has to enquire in Makara vahini(iMother Ganga)temple .Not big or impressive from outside, surrounded by ordinary houses, only locals visit. But this is a Shakthi peetha ,so it is powerful and spiritual!
Mythological and mysterious!!

Maya devi is the adhistadri of haridwar. Haridwar was earlier named as Mayapuri after the name of Maya Devi. The temple is located close to the Har ki Pauri. Though small in size and located in fort like structre, it is worth and a must visit for anybody visiting Haridwar for spiritual purpose. The aarti in the temple in the evening is a must watch.

t's an old and peaceful temple. Conmen don't come here usually but unless you are spiritually inclined, you wouldn't find much here.

Spiritual religious and holy place..mayadevi mata temple is one of the oldest temple but you will not find it in old looks because it was modified and renovate time to time.
Mayapur name is old name of Haridwar so u know it would be based on Mata's name.
Demerit-- everywhere you will find dirt , bad odour .
Really disappointed from the government who has to maintain, people who live and travellers who visited here. It's everyone's responsibility to make the city clean..
