Mansa Devi- The Vasuki’s SisterShakti is worshipped in various forms in India. In the pious lands of Haridwar, one can witness the grandeur of the goddess. The omnipresent is visible here for the devotees in the form of Mansa Devi. As per our religious texts, she has emerged from the mind of the Mahadev. Mansa Devi is the sister of the serpent Vasuki. The temple of Mansa Devi is on the Sivalik Hills- the southernmost range of the Himalaya.It can be easily seen from the city grounds. This is amongst the panch tirtha (Five Pilgrimage) within Haridwar, Uttarakhand. It is a strong belief that one gets what one desires when visits the Goddess. The route to Mansa Devi starts from the Haridwar market.One can trek the path or climb a flight of stairs to the temple. For people who would like to take an easier path, the Uttarakhand has a working ropeway that takes them to the temple. The journey by ropeway to the temple is breathtaking and takes you 10 minutes to reach the top.It takes one look at the deity and you go breathless. There is a huge rush at all times. Alike other popular temples of India, one can see commercialization happening in and around the temple. The temple is infested with Pandits trying to con devotees. This is a no -shocker as one can experience the same in almost all the popular temples in India. If one ignores this, the temple evokes a sense of spirituality and devotion to the almighty.In case you wish to walk up or take stairs to beware of the monkeys on the way. Take care of the kids and your belongings. The absolutely lovely temple though in need of order.

Excellent temple complex with many deities and Mansa devi is the main one. The cable car operators tried to force us to buy round tickets to both hill shrines
Mansa & Chandi or else for only Mansa we have to wait long time. We didn't fall for it and finished darshan in normal time.

Well, the temple was very crowded! But we were able to use the premium tickets from the Chandi Devi temple to get into the cable car without any wait. This was a real time saver. Once we went up, there were very long lines for the darshan(atleast1.5hours wait we were told). Therefore, we bought a special darshan ticket that took us hardly 5mnts, or so. What I'm trying to say here is that there are options if you are pressed for time or have elderly people visiting the temple. The cable car services are usually preferred by a majority of people visiting the temple. It carries the pilgrims directly from the lower station to the temple. It is convenient and you get great views of the city, river and the surrounding areas.

Mansa devi temple is located on the Bilva parvat of Shivalika hills in the holy city of Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand. It is dedicated to the Shakti in the form of Mansa. It is believed that she emerged from the mind of Shiva and is regarded as sister of Nagraj Vasuki. Mansa means wish and hence Mansa devi is believed to be fulfilling wishes of sincere devotees. Goddess Mansa is offered coconuts, fruits, garlands and incense sticks for prayer. These are available all the way to the temple and costs 50 INR. We used cable car and it cost us INR 122 for return ticket. It is considered as a siddha peeth and one of panch tirths in Haridwar. We had easy darshan to the temple and excellent darshan due to very less people.

Mansa Devi temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and a very holy place to visit. There is a cable car to take you to the hilltop. A general ticket of the cable car is Rs 50, while Special One is Rs 800. Most temples are very crowded, so with the special ticket one gets first preference on the next available cable car and there is no waiting.
The feeling at the Mandir is very heavenly and something one would remember for long. For those inclined to visit temples, this place is an absolute must.

It is very near to Har ki pauri. You can walk to the cablecar starting point. The combo tickets to and fro Mansa devi, transport to Chandi Devi temple and to and fro ticket fro the cabel car there. Total 3-4 hours max for compbined trip. Temple is a temple. All depends on your faith. The surroundings are natural and pleasing. Monkey problem is there, but sitting places have grill protection. Food is okay, but not over-priced at least. Worth a go.

Queues could be long, especially during festival seasons so ensure you have sufficient time. We had to wait for almost 1.5 hours for cable car / gondola service. There was a long queue for the darshan, and it could get super crowded so take care of small kids and your belongings.

Mansa Devi is so overcrowded with pilgrims that I would tell tourists to not bother. When I arrived at the ropeway, there is a signage saying there is a 1-hour waiting time and the number of crowd in the queue seems to confirm it, so I decided to take the 30-40 minute hike up into the temple. The temple itself has limited things to do and some sections have long queues of pilgrims with some trying to annoyingly cut queues all the time, so overall it felt like too much effort needed to get too little experience.

Wonderful experience on rope way to manasa devi, very near to har ki puri. You can tie a thread at manasa devi to make a wish. Manasa Devi is famous for fulfilling inner wishes.

It's been very much commercial. There is no end to give donation in too many stops. They don't like the quantity of money you give. they ask at least 100 rupi for every spot. Too much pushing to sell offering materials. It was a bad experience.

How to travel between Mansa devi and Chandi devi temples?
Local cabs / rickshaw? how much they charge?

No there is not facility to pre-book tickets. Usually tickets are not that much problem, Issue is with getting the rope way. In one Cart only 6 members can be accommodated. So there is long wait after you get tickets. My suggestion would be to walk uphill. Its not that steep, only initial stairs are steep if you come from Kotwali. If you come from Har ki pauri, you will need to take stairs all the way up and is steep. So start your journey from Kotwali road.

From Har-ki-Paudi, Mansa Devi Temple is a walking distance through Upper Road... its fun also walking through shops and restaurants, halwai's on this road.
If you wish to eat, you can stop at Hoshiyarpuri Restaurant on Upper Road for GOOD MEAL.

We went there in the evening around 5.30 and the wait for the ticket was short. The cable car ride is just a few minutes
you can also opt for a VIP ticket which has a priority queue to get in and out of the cable car

Yes you can save combined tickets to save money and to save time for a second queue. The temples are at two different places some 45 minutes apart. what you are going to save is time in the queue at the second place; so certainly worth it.

Can't book online tickets for the ropeway. you will easily get the same at the temple. it will be an off season during Feb and so needn't worry about the lines.

you can go by road, but it climbing on hill and long way. if you like adventure and have much time then can go by road. other better way is rope way. take ticket and go by rope way, the office of rope way is very near to Har Ki Pori, just 5-7 minute . Very good palace to go. you must go and visit there.
