Being a student at Kiteboarding Zanzibar has been hands down one of the best schools that I have been to. It is difficult to put in a few words what became a life changing experience. The owner Buky, was extremely professional, friendly and always always looked out for my own safety both in water and outside. The team of teachers as all extremely well prepared. The added value of Kiteboarding Zanzibar is very simple yet crucial for a kiting trip: team is locals meaning they know the ins and out of Zanzibar and they have international experience as they have been kiting all around the world. Their equipment was flawless and brand new. The spot that was chosen every single time ensure the correct wind coditions for my level were met. On top of that the spots were breathtaking. They were always punctual and always went the extra mile to make you feel at home. It was my first time in Africa and if it had not been for them, Im sure my expereince would have been different. I take this review as a chance to allow both them and future customers know that I am deeply grateful with Kiteboarding Zanzibar team. Blindly Recommend it 100% if you are interested in Kiting in Zanzibar.

Hi all,
Took a begginer 9 hour course in Zanzibar during last week of June 2021.
The combination of a so unique and peaceful place with a beautiful shoreline along with first class instructors who know how to approach a student, control basics buildup and safety oriented - should encourage every kiter (beginner or intermidiate) to book here.
For me it was not only best value for money, but also a great opportunity to meet such wonderful warm people and gain new friends.
So Nina, Hassan & Hassan and all the team - many many thanks!

Kiteboarding Zanzibar are offering exclusive lessons in Nungwi ( north ).
The whole process from querying to lessons were very smooth and the instructors are really good.
Osama and Paula are professionals and their instructions were always to the point making my journey riding the board as smooth and flexible as possible.
Many thanks to Nina for organizing promptly multiple days scheduling and logistics , as well as finalizing my certification after the lessons completion.

Bonnie is a great instructor
Prices seem to be fair
Good location - low water, so you can stand up in case you fall (beginner friendly)
Decent equipment

wind conditions are not ideal (depending of the season, of course). in October there was usually only wind in the evening and even then it was low. the wind is directly on-shore, which makes it difficult for beginners
no water pickups for the lesson, so there is a lot of walking to the sandbanks involved
some hazards in the water: sticks from seaweed farms and black sea urchins.
i feel like the kites weren't adjusted to the wind and/or the weight of the student

Nina is the best teacher i have ever had. She was incredibly attentive - carefully monitored all my movements so to really efficiently and effectively tackle my mistakes. Very professional and amazing experience. Highly recommend the school!

For our Zanzibar trip with the idea in our heads to learn kiteboarding, it was the best choice ever to do this in Nungwi (and not in Paje), especially with this amazing people! It felt familiar from the first moment we watched them teaching and then everything was so simple and spontaneous to arrange with them... Nina is always organizing and communicating the times, transport, etc., with Buky it is always fun and Peace was our instructor, who explained very well and clearly to understand everything and put it directly into practice. And what we appreciated most: For the
money we paid, they really wanted to give us a PERFECT opportunity to learn kiteboarding - so we also stayed one more day in Nungwi than planned, to have good wind conditions for proceeding our level. They really give you the time enjoying every single experience on the board and they really love their job <3 They love kiting and so do they convey to you!

Awesome kite school, with fantastic staff that are no only knowledgable, but very cool and laidback !
All the equipment is new or fairly new and top of the line !
They know their spots well, and all their suggestions (depending on time of day .etc ) are great!
If you want to kite in Zanzibar, even with your own equipment, get in touch with them!
They will help with everything (transfers, places for lunch .etc)
Highly recommend this as an experienced miter who has seen stations around the world !!

I had a few days' of kitesurfing lessons, starting as an absolute beginner - I enjoyed it a lot, and feel like I made huge progress. Nina and Buki were both great teachers, and really flexible and proactive with communication and the lesson timings.
They also helped me organise transport, food and accommodation, which made a big difference. Finally, they provided excellent value for time and money with the lessons, compared to some other schools in Zanzibar. For a focused, flexible and friendly kitesurfing experience, I couldn't recommend anyone better.

Nina was amazing - very knowledgeable and super patient. We took the 3 day beginner course and were almost able to water launch by the end. The instructors worked with us to find transportation to and from beaches with the best wind depending on time of day and were overall very responsive and helpful - highly recommend!

I can truly recommend Kiteboarding Zanzibar! I couldn't wish for the better beginning of my adventure with kitesurfing than with Nina and the rest of the team - everything was arranged swiftly from A to Z, clear communication, flexibility and of course great lessons. Nina is clearly very experienced instructor with a great gift for teaching. She is patient and very good at encouraging to push further through but at the same time she listens well to your needs. I will definitely come back next time when in Zanzibar for more lessons.

Hey buddy, I'm afraid windsurf has varnished it doesn't excist anymore as commercial in zanzibar it all evolved to kiteboarding

Every group lesson is usd165 per 3hrs and our groups are only 2students per instructor.
all other kitesurfing centers in zanzibar teach four students per instructor in a group lesson.
we are actually not expensive most standard schools charge the same just in euros instead of US dollars can get confused by currency conversions.
