    Turquoise blue water
This is the most beautiful beach on Zanzibar island, with its fine white sand and turquoise blue water. When the tide is low, the stretch from Nungwi to Kendwa becomes one beach and you can see a multitude of tourists enjoying a dip in the sea, sunbathing or walking along the sandy shores. There are plenty of nice restaurants and local shops, so you can be on the beach for the whole day if you want. I ended my day with a sundowner cruise on a big dhow boat and enjoyed the performance of awesome local musicians who played drums and sang Swahili songs. I liked the welcome song, 'Hakuna matata'. Indeed, hakuna matata in Zanzibar!

I'm not a beach type of person, because I do not like to get sunburn. I came to Zanzibar on a tour. My tour guide booked the hotel for me to stay at Nungwi Beach for four days. So I decided to put on my swimsuit bikini and swam an hour at this beach for fun. The beach was so beautiful. The water was so clear and warm.

Crystal Beach, Nungwi - a wonderful place to chill!
We spent three days (17 to 20 March) in Nungwi. While we were there, the rainy season started and gave a bit of relief to the hot, sticky, humid weather. We stayed at the Crystal Beach Hotel at the most northerly point of Zanzibar. It was a great place to stay, beautiful views, spotlessly clean, really helpful, welcoming hosts and great food in the little restaurant directly on the beach. We will return some day ….

Fantastic Beach Area. Not Many Waves
One of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Clear water & lovely for swimming. A few k.m. away you can swim with the dolphins. Our 11 year old daughter enjoyed it. Also nearby is good for snorkeling

One of my favourite beaches ever
On my recent visit to Nungwi Beach in Tanzania, I was struck by the sheer cleanliness of the place. It made every moment spent there truly enjoyable. The beach offered a variety of tours and activities — we snorkelled and sailed into the sunset, enjoying the numerous choices available to us. Day or night, the beach felt clean and secure, a real highlight for me. If you're looking for an easy-going and pleasant time at a Tanzanian beach, Nungwi should be at the top of your list. I'm definitely going back. Bringing my drone along for filming and taking pictures was a fine and didn't get bothered by anyone.

One of the most beautiful beaches
Nungwi beach is simply wow. Loved every moment that we spent at nungwi beach. There are some good eating places on the beach as well as near by. MJ cafe is one of the affordable ones.

Very beautiful beach. There are many hotels, restaurants and shops accessible just off the beach. You can travel along the beach to reach many of these things. The beach is quite busy. During the day there are many people out promoting tour groups and offering services like massages and beading for hair. There are beach chairs, but you will be asked to pay to use them if you sit on them. At night, these chairs are removed and the restaurants extend their dining areas onto the beach. It's a beautiful scene, with lanterns and other lights on the tables. You can sit at a restaurant and watch the sunset or the boats go by.

Beach is stunning and clean, many beachboys around bothering people. I got lucky, my yoga teacher recommend me a guy -Dray, she knows him for 8 years! Im solo traveller so Dray arrange and guided for me several tour around the island for really good price (I’ve checked with few tour operators and prices for private tours were much higher!), we rent even motorbike! Dray took me also to many local bars and restaurants where I wouldn’t go myself! I have a lot of fun with him for 2,5 weeks and did many trips including snorkeling, all arranged by Dray! He saved me a lot of money and time. He is using WhatsApp so he is easily reachable. Once you are in Nungwi thats the guy you should look for :) I know its sounds like advertising for him but I really had much fun, saw and experienced a lot! :) Therefore I would like to thank him for that.... Contact him once you are interested to do any tours, you can just check prices with him and then decide, he will plan and recommend what is the best for you :) Dray : +255 62 975 8617 (whatsapp)

Nungwi is also a nice beautiful beach after kendwa beach.we were invited by our guide yunus for a sunset boat party from kendwa to nungwi.
Nungwi beach ia very crowded with lots of beach boys who push you everyminute.lots of restaurants to have dinner too.
We had our sea food dinner in baraka restaurant after the sunset boat party.the staffs are very friendly in baraka and the food is the best to have.

For transfers and tours contact Yunus ,he is very friendly +255 620 308 527

After 8 days of safari, this is exactly what was needed! The beach has the whitest sand I’ve ever seen and despite the number of people, it is very clean.

Perfect location to see stunning sunsets and when it’s low tide, you get to see the daily activities by the locals. Great location for a morning jog if you’re into fitness!

Just be careful of the locals trying to sell the tours... barter a price as you can probably get them cheaper from your hotel. However, the locals selling fresh coconuts and mango provide you with some refreshing relief throughout the day.

So Nungwi is a very popular beach with many people looking for your attention to buy an experience or sell you something and it's hard to know who is not ripping you off or being unsafe.
Finding out the prices on here is best then if you want someone to arrange the whole thing safely and extremely efficiently I can recommend a local fixer/driver who made the whole experience effortless. He just asks for 10% for his time and he sort anything from Ferry tickets to the spice tours. Speaks great English and is a honest human being. He seems to know everyone and so everything goes without a hitch. Generally he waits till you want to return to hotel. Using WhatsApp he will respond almost immediately

My very first experience of Nungwi was in December, I was there for a New Year's party (5 years ago). My most recent experience was this July, and it's a whole different Nungwi which I wasn't prepared for.
Unlike in December, in July Nungwi beach wasn't one smooth stretch of flat white sand, rather it was washed up deep yellowish sand, mixed up with seaweed, interrupted by hotels and restaurants going deep into the water.
Another disappointment was that there was no cows on the beach! I loved sunbathing right next to local cows five years back. Apparently what happened was that numerous new airbnbs build up fences and gates in approach to the beach from the football field/local school, so cows can't get to the beach anymore!
I'm going in December again, but only for a day or two, to check it for myself whether it's permanent or seasonal change.
Sorry Nungwi, not a 5* review for this time of year.

Popped up to Nungwi Beach for the afternoon. It really is beautiful, but frankly, the commercialization, vendors asking you questions, the numbers of people, all made it a bit underwhelming for me. Also all the buildings and restaurants that are built over the beach areas, which means you cannot walk along the beach. I was impressed by how clean it was
