Horse riding with the instructor Giliady
It was one of those soothing experiences that contributed to my relaxation, calmness and manifestation. I observed the beauty of Nungwi Beach in the best way by riding a beautiful horse. The horse riding instructor “Giliady” was passionately professional, he made the experience even better, and he took amazing photos of me during the the horse riding. I highly recommend booking with Zanzibar Horse Club, especially with Giliady.

Amazing experience and awesome staff members
Amazing horse riding place! Everyone is so friendly there. They care so much about the horses, the horses seem very happy and very calm. I booked a session then I was very sick the next day, and they agreed to move my session to the day after. I was a beginner rider, Jackson is very kind and so friendly. Not only an amazing horse rider but a great photographer, he took me some awesome pictures! When we went back, his friend offered to help me organising my safari trip. Awesome experience! I loved it! Thank you everyone!

    Best ride ever
I had the great opportunity to do a wonderful unforgettable 4 HOURS RIDE with JACKSON, who happened to be the best instructor and company I could imagine. You definitely have to be a rider if you want to choose this ride, this is a sporty and bumpy ride cause you will have the chance to gallop a lot, and very fast especially on the beautiful sandbanks. 🩵 So professionnal, plus the horses are so well taken care of by all the amazing staff, the stable is perfectly clean, the horses in very good shape, thanks to all the local team that works very hard so that you enjoy your moment. For all that, absolutely let a tip to the instructors, especially if you take pictures or videos cause they do it nicely for you and won't ask for anything but they're horses pros not instagram photographers 😝 and this is exhausting extra work under the sun for them (just saying because actually saw people doing it and sometimes it was definitely too much...). I will never forget this lifetime experience. Ask for Jackson, best horse rider, instructor, farrier. He's a real passionnate !

    Epic Ride Along the Beach
The most epic ride I could have asked for! I was riding on Safari, who was nothing but a champ and an absolute joy. Jackson, my guide, was a pleasure to have as company along the way sharing insights and information of the beauty of the local village and people. I highly recommend the services offered at Zan Horse Club 👌🏽

    Incredible beach riding experience
I have ridden all over the world and this was probably the best beach ride I have gone on. I went for a 2 hr. ride and was the only person on the ride besides the guide. Unfortunately, because the tide was too high, we couldn’t see the sandbanks, but instead, we galloped long stretches on the beach and I got to take the horse pretty deep in the water. My guide took lots of pictures and videos. The horses were nice and enjoyable to ride. I had a great time!

    What an amazing birthday
Wow what an amazing day from start to finish, we were made very welcome by Jessica and Giliady who were our guides for the day. We booked a 3 hour ride on the beach and through a forest and village. We were given boots and hats then introduced to our beautiful horses, oreo and safari who were so calm and easy to ride. Jessica and Giliady were fantastic guides, so lovely and friendly and very knowledgeable, they took brilliant pics and videos throughout the ride. We rode to thier other stables abs were given water and fresh pineapple juice along with some fruit. Then we headed back through the forest along the beach and even rode in the sea. The views were stunning. Thank you so so so much Jesdica and Giliady for giving us a day we won't forget, you made is so special for Corey's birthday and it was seamless from start to finish 🥰

A must do experience on your trip to Zanzibar!!
Me and my partner booked riding and the swim here on our trip to Zanzibar and it’s a must do experience! The horses are beautiful, the staff are so friendly and go the extra mile to get you as many pictures and videos as they can and the beaches are BREATHTAKING. The horses were so well behaved in the water on our swim and it was a one in a lifetime experience. I had such an amazing time I’ll be smiling about it for years to come.

I would not recommend this riding club, as safety was extremely lax and riding is a dangerous activity. I’m an experienced (but not expert) rider and did the Ride to the Sandbanks.

At no point when I arrived was I asked about my riding experience level . I was put on a very small horse, and asked for a bigger one. One of the stable hands warned me the horse I’d been given had only been riding on the beach for 3 months or so, and could ‘get scared’. He said that as I am a ‘professional’ rider (because I was wearing chaps and jodhpurs, presumably) I would be fine.

The horse, Blue, was absolutely fine on the beach. However, during a canter on the beach, my stirrup broke - causing me to fall. Oreo, the other horse, was also bucking throughout. I’m concerned by the review below, which suggests this is because Oreo has a saddle sore and yet is being made to continue riding.

The guide apologised and we carried on along the beach to the sandbanks, where we could gallop. Despite being relatively calm and easy enough to ride on the beach, Blue majorly spooked on the sandbank and bucked me off twice. I haven’t fallen off a horse since I was a child, and can deal with minor spooks and bucking, but not what the horse did. At no point did the guide ask whether I was ok, but he did apologise.

The ride was beautiful, our guide was friendly and the horses seemed well looked after (on the surface at least) but I just think safety needs to be significantly tightened up for the longer rides involving galloping, especially if customers are to be put on nervous horses. There was absolutely no safety brief or discussion about experience level - it was all just assumed. I will be much more discerning where I ride in future.

We arrived at zanzibar horse club at 2pm, all the staff welcomed us warmly, they explained the tour and they gave to us all the equipment and introduce their beautiful horses. We walked inside nungwi village and it’s was amazing, the staff were all the time looking after us, explaining around, they were really professional and we felt extremely safe .After the village we went to the beach and the color of the Indian Ocean from the horse was just a dream came true..if you are coming to zanzibar you should definitely visit zanzibar horse club.

An amazing experience led by a lovely team. We are two confident horse riders and had an amazing time galloping along the beach and into the sea. Our guide Jessica was lovely. The horses are well looked after, well behaved and very nimble through the back streets of Nungwi.
The team also took 2 young children (4 and 7) on a guided ride to another part of the beach and they had an amazing time.

Make sure you book in advance as there are only a small number of horses. We managed to get a cancellation but if you know you are going to Nungwi get it booked before you arrive.
Top tip, book really early in the morning when the beach is empty so you don't have to stop for tourists and can gall even further along the beach!

We booked our ride very spontaniously and uncomplicated via whatsapp, where we quickly got a response. The provided helmet and boots as well as all the horses equipment are in very good shape. The saddles are super comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. As more or less experienced riders we got a village and beach ride perfectly tailored to our abilities. The horses are very well trained and calm. We loved every second of it and recommend it to everyone who likes horses. And as most or maybe even all of them are rescues, you're supporting a totally animalfriendly business.

Unless you’re an experienced bareback rider and a very strong swimmer, I do not recommend the “swim” ride, it was by far one of the sketchiest things I’ve ever done (& I say that as a skydiver & scuba diver)! We were given literally no instructions or details about the ride before getting on the horses in the ocean (they also do not have you wear a helmet or shoes as detailed online). The tide was really high as it was a full moon and there were big waves since it was a stormy day. As we’re were riding in the surf, the water was half way up the horses back or higher the entire time with waves pushing against us (again as we were riding bareback there was nothing to hold onto as the waves crashed against us!) Half of our group fell off their horses, myself included, and it’s a miracle we didn’t get kicked by the horses as we fell off backwards or crash into the pier we were next to (though I couldn’t escape get covered in floating horse 💩 as the waves hit.) Luckily I’m a strong swimmer and was able to navigate the waves to avoid the horse and pier until the horse made its way back onto shore and a guide caught up to help me back on, but if you’re not a strong swimmer or in good enough shape to use only your thigh muscles to hold onto a horse as waves crash against you for 30 minutes, do not risk it!

A must do in zanzibar, even if you have never ridden before. For those who know how to ride, there is the option of a faster pace but the guys will also accommodate complete novices for a once in a lifetime opportunity. The horses are very well looked after and cared for. I've already done the beach ride and will be back today for the bareback swim! Amazing if you like horses, great fun even if you don't and for the Instagram generation the appaloosa horses, white sand and turquoise waters make a great picture! 100% recommend for all :)

I had an amazing 90min ride starting from Kidoti stables going through the picturesque forests and remote villages. My guide, Morice, was incredibly experienced and professional, ensuring I felt safe throughout, despite not having ridden in a while. The top-notch equipment and well-kept horses added to the overall excellence of the experience. The stables in Kidoti were impressively spacious, very well maintained, and in excellent condition. The rest of the staff, from start to finish, were incredibly friendly, making the entire adventure even more enjoyable. The highlight was undoubtedly reaching a stunning viewpoint just in time for the most beautiful sunset. An unforgettable adventure – highly recommended! ⚡🐴🌅

I am an experienced horse rider and my horse riding tours in Zanzibar were absolutely amazing!!!
The Zanzibar horse club is welcoming and each member of staff is treating every horse with kindness and respect.
My first tour was a swim tour along a spectacular beach. My horse (Buzz) was quite keen to swim and seemed to enjoy it :)
My second tour was a 1h30 min ride on the beach with Jackson as a guide. It's been a while I haven't had so much pleasure riding a horse, Buzz again ! Thanks to very low tide we had the chance to gallop full speed and Buzz loved it as much as I did !! Thank you Jackson for such a great ride, I will come back for sure :)

Horse riding with Zanzibar Horse Club, along one of the world's best beaches, is an absolute must! It's a once in a lifetime experience...

The horses are lovely, the staff are friendly, the beach is really beautiful, and the riding is even better!

Trekking through the village on route to the beach was so much fun. What a way to see Nungwi village and get a glimpse of village life!

Traditional fishing dhows were dotted all over the beach making for an incredibly beautiful landscape.

Riding along Nungwi's stunning beach with Oreo has to be one of the best things I've done in a very long while.

So, a million thank yous to Zanzibar Horse Club for an absolutely unforgettable day out.

I can't recommend this experience enough!

My 2 friends and I really wanted to experience riding horses in the water, but there was only 1 slot available at the Nungwi location. The staff suggested going to the Kidoti location, which is a bit less popular because it's not along a beach or more visible. Switching locations was the best thing that could've happened! The location is less packed with tourists, more intimate, and had a FANTASTIC view of the sunset. Maurice was stellar at taking photos and videos of all 3 of us while we were riding, and the rest of staff helped us ride safely while taking care of the horses. I'd highly recommend this adventure, and encourage visiting the Kidoti Stables!
