Interesting experience, the place has to improve

Azrou Cedar Forest is located to the South of Azrou, a town 80km to the South from Fez. In this forest, you can see a lot of authoctonous monkeys and you can carefully touch them and give them food, especially peanuts. It is a very good experience for children and all the family (in fact we come here with my 4 years old daughter and she sometimes enjoy and sometimes she was afraid of them). Pitifully, not all is wonderful, because there are a lot of garbage in the picnic and monkeys zone and these animals may have disease rage, so you have to be careful with monkeys. I hope this place improve in the next years.

Feed macaque monkeys by hand, NO petting

After lunch in Midelt, our tour guide drove us through the Azrou Cedar forest on the way to Fez. Like all the other tourists, we got out in the cool mountain air and fed the macaque monkeys. They're very careful not to touch humans, but they will get very close to take Pringles or fruit leather, in our case. They were really adorable! We spent about 20 minutes here until our snacks were gone.

I was chastised by a friend (not on the trip) afterward for encouraging the monkeys to take human food. But they never got violent and ate the food quickly. There is a fence to keep the monkeys back, but also plenty of space to park. Oh, and they have no problem jumping on top of your car to get closer to food offerings!
