WE USED OUR CREDIT CARD!!!
Noticed a previous review said they don’t take them but that obviously has changed. 😺We absolutely loved this place. Spent about 6 hours there and only passed 2 cars 🙀. The scenery was filled with beautiful acacia trees and a lovely marsh area. Saw a ton of wildlife as well. We went to 4 other parks and this was definitely a highlight. We stayed at Rhino Watch Lodge which was so nice and was sad we only had one night there. You will love Solio and don’t hesitate to go!!

Our Bigcatshow safari take us to this magnificent conservancy, wow should be the word, the amount of wildlife we spot was mind blowing.
We had some of the best experience with rhino. But other animals thrive here in sheer numbers, and bird life is incredible, can't wait to be back soon.
Highly recommend this jewel.

The conservation area is nice with a lot of rhinos. However it is complicated to enter, because the park management does not offer any cashless payment. We had to use our ABSA bank account to pay. ( which foreign tourist typically do not have). Without that we would not have been able to enter. Therefore only three ***, this is an unecessary complication.

This game reserve is outstanding... we saw loads of Rhinos and group of lions..
The management should be awarded for the Rhino conservation as we saw at least 40 plus Rhinos combined in our game drive
I would be returning back in my next trip and prefer this game reserve to the other nearby ones

We visited Solio game reserve in August 2022. The landscape is fine, consisting of savanna and bushy savanna.
During game drive, we saw many animals, including:
- black and white rhinos
- a pride of lions
- black backed jackals
- Jackson’s hartebeests
- reticulated giraffes
- impalas, Thomson’s gazelles, warthogs
Altogether, we recommend to visit Solio game reserve. Congratulations for their action in survival of black and white rhinos!

We saw a handful of rhinos within the first 5 minutes. It is only a 15 minute drive from the aberdares country club

From Lonely Planet guide: “The family-run, private 71-sq-km Solio Game Reserve is Kenya’s oldest rhino sanctuary and an important breeding centre for black rhinos; many of the horned beasts you see wandering national parks were actually born here. Day visitors and lodge guests can experience the dramat¬ic clumps of yellow-fever acacia, wide skies and wild marsh, plus an abundance of rhi¬nos as well as oryxes, gazelles, hartebeests, giraffes, lions, hyenas and buffaloes”
So, as a matter of fact, this Reserve can be considered a place for rhinos lovers, despite I thought I could see something more.
It's an artificially and not balanced piece of nature (worthing 80$ a visit), because in this place you can see a considerable amount of rhinos “grazing” everywhere, rhinos, rhinos and only rhinos.
But it was good to see it, once in a lifetime.
The place I stayed, Sangare Gardens, is a nice one.

A beautiful game park with a range of amazing scenery. Heaven for photographers. It is quiet, you probably won't see another car. You will see lots of rhinos including loads of baby rhinos. You will see water buck and lots of different birds. You will see marshes and huge plains filled with buffalo and rhinos. In 2017 we saw a group of about 16 lions but apparently they have moved out of the park at the moment ! There is another group but they are shy, although we did find some males hiding in the grass and totally unconcerned by us. We stayed at the Rhinowatch Lodge just 5 minutes down the road and went back there for lunch.
