Wanaka Wine Tours has been in operation since 2001. It is the original wine touring company in and around Wanaka. We take you to the best places to sample award winning wines and to hear the local stories. As we travel our friendly and knowledgeable guides will tell you tales and stories of the people and land as you enjoy the stunning scenery. Lake Wanaka is the worlds first protected lifestyle reserve. It is a very special place and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Well organised, and enjoyed the commentary from the driver. Only suggestion would be to organise the use of transport depending on the guests you have. For example, if you are driving multiple couples (on their holiday/honeymoon), they do wish to sit together and spend the quality time together especially because the driving time took up a large proportion of the tour. My partner and I were last to be picked up (out of our control) and therefore one of us had to sit in the front seat, and the other in the back beside another couple. This was slightly disappointing as we spent a large amount on this lovely trip, and wished to enjoy and experience it together, fully. So, possibly alternating the use of van depending on whether you have a big group or multiple couples would be a useful thing to consider!

We booked a boutique wine tour with Wanaka Wine Tours and were so blown away by the experience. We were hosted by the owner of the business, Scott - a super fun guy who was extremely knowledgable about wines and the overall terrain. He picked us up from our accomodation, and we were pleasantly surprised to see we were the only ones on the tour!
My partner and I were visiting Wanaka for a couple of days before heading off to Queenstown, and this was honestly the highlight of our trip. Not only did we get to taste some delicious wines, learn a thing or two, (lots) but also got to get out a bit further from Wanaka central and take in more scenery! Something we would not have done otherwise!
We went into the tour being avid Pinot Noir drinkers and to be honest, quite turned off to any white wine, however Scott said at the start of the trip to try and have an open mind as we were about to taste some super yum Rieslings. I was a bit reluctant, but myself and my partner walked away reborn as Riesling lovers. I even found myself ordering a Riesling with dinner the following night! Very bizarre for this gal, folks!
Not only did we get amazing hospo from Scott for the duration of four hours, but he even offered to quickly run us off at our camp to drop off our haul of wines, and then drop us back in town to our dinner spot. What a guy!
Scott, we owe you a big bottle of Ries and cant thank you enough for your generous hospitality and for giving us such an amazing day. I hope we see you again soon!

We had a fantastic half day wine tour with our guide Toni she picked us up from our accommodation at was informative not just on the wine regions but history of the central Otago region. We visited four wineries, Aitkins Folly, Scott Base, Domain Road and Aurum. Scott Base was a real highlight we had a beautiful lunch and the staff were so fun and friendly.
Will definitely be recommending to my friends back home. A half day well spent it was so much fun.

Myself and my partner went on the Boutiqe wine tour. We went to Four Wineries and had a great time! Heidi was a great guide, she was down to earth, kind but also very knowledgeable. The tour had Six people in total so the small intimate group made it a really comfortable and made for a great experience. The platter lunch was yum and they were able to cater to my vegetarian needs which was great. We also met some awesome people who came from all over the world.
If you love wine, and would like to see more of Wanaka without having to drive yourself.. This is for you!!

We had such a good time on this wine tour. Robin took the tour and drove us to four local boutique wineries, all different and all well set up for groups like ours. We were a group of seven, a real mix of nationalities and ages, and we all got on well and had a great laugh along the way.
We tasted five wines in each place, mainly pinot noir, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris, rosé, riesling, chardonnay, and a very special ginger wine. A good range of different styles, with some common characteristics of the region. The fruitiness was the main feature I found in most of the wines we tried. Quite different from Marlborough and other regions.
It was lovely to see some more of the countryside and beautiful scenery outside Wanaka on the trip. It took about five hours and was well-paced. The platters of food at Allan Scott Winery were generous and delicious...and necessary! The winery staff were friendly and informative and each place very much had its own style.
Robin is a great tour leader. We had fun with him and he made the whole trip feel relaxed and informal. I would highly recommend this trip to get out of town and try some delicious local wines at small local wineries. Five stars all round!

As a couple travelling around we were looking forward to having someone else drive... Emily, our driver, was great. Picked us up from our accommodation and took us to three lovely vineyards around Wanaka. Highlight was Aitken's Folly, a newish vineyard where the owner was happy to spend ages talking to us. Highly recommended trip!

Took the boutique wine tour with Scott. The six of us thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon visiting the wineries Scott had chosen for us. All exceptional in their own way. Scott is very knowledgeable and each winery had something special to share with our group. Very worthwhile tour and we'd highly recommend.

Heidi our tour guide was wonderful! She taught us so much about the local area and introduced us to some lovely wine makers. Would highly recommend this company to do a wine tour with from Wanaka. The wines were amazing.

This is a great full day tour. We got to taste a great selection of wines from Otargo. Our guide Ian was full of knowledge about the region and its history. The lunch at the Stoaker Room was fantastic with a great food and wine match.

Loved our tour with Wānaka wines. The locations and wine were terrific however, the stand out was out tour guide John!! Amazing knowledge, stories and atmosphere he created. Plus a 11/10 photographer, ask him about his panoramas :).
He went above and beyond, dropping us into town via our accommodation to drop off our purchases. Hope he is pleased to know we stayed in touch with our tour friends.

According to reviews this is excellent tour. And we probably would like to join it.
I wonder about the price.
This tour price is two-three times more than alike tour in Marlborrough and 50% more than near Auckland.
Any tour and any region has their own highlights and particularities. What is special about this tour?
Probably lunch is included?

As we only did the area we only had the Queenstown wine tours to compare with n it was much better value for money ( more wineries n lunch ) Scott was very personable n knowledgable about the region. Each winery was unique in its history and wine.
