We came here to eat at a French restaurant but were attracted by the beautiful lakeside walk and its quirky "time trail". In the end we quit our hotel in Queenstown to stay here. Really liked the place - good for families, nice atmosphere.

Been to Wanaka twice now once in the summer & winter. Different feel with the seasons but beautiful each time. Nice shops, great cafes & lots to do for all ages. The lake is stunning especially when you can see the snow covered mountains behind stunning. Rippon winnery is a must when visiting.

Passed thru and stopped as stunning area. Great shops/Cafes overlooking the gorgeous lake with the majestic peaks out front..this is a ski town so tons of great outdoor shops. You can buy your ski pass for Cordrona here so no queuing up on the mountain to.

Only made it to Wanaka the once after skiing as we were staying in Queenstown. Loved the vibe and the scenery. Would definitely make time to explore more next time we come to the area.

Our grandchildren aged 6 loved this Dinosaur Park - named after the giant slide. It's found on the corner of Ardmore and Lakeside Road. Glad I read about it on Google. After travelling over from Queenstown this gave our kiddies a chance to get rid of some energy before heading to Paradiso Movie Theatre (a brilliant place with cookies at... More

Wanaka is a beautiful place to visit, with heaps of cool activities. We were there for the Wanaka airshow, & I also just came back from a snowboarding trip there. There are easily multiple things for everyone including dining out, shopping, wineries, puzzle world, cinema paradiso, airshow, snow, sky diving, day trips to Queenstown & Milford Sound, Cromwell, car racing,... Wanaka is a quiet little town with a beautiful lake. There are a few modest restaurants, bars and shops, but there's not a whole lot to do if you're looking for planned activities. It's far less touristy in comparison to Queenstown, but it has it's own charm. If you're keen on relaxing and enjoying the nature around you, Wanaka is... More

Wanaka is one of the most special places in the world - absolutely fantastic - busy bars, great restaurants, outdoor activities abound, and the people are friendly. So much better than commercial Queenstown.

If I ever have to live in a cold place, this would be it. For a tropical climate loving Queenslander, that is a BIG call. The place is stunning> The mountains, the lake, there is a photo opportunity where ever you look. There are some great cafes also
