Experience the best of New Zealand's South Island with Hygi and Enger. I joined a 3 night 4 day eco tour and had an incredible time. We started in Makarora hiking through native forest where we foraged for mushrooms and that evening our private chef created a delicious 4 course meal which we ate with local wines by a roaring fire.
The next morning we watched the sunrise over Lake Hawea and then visited a regenerative farm, drove a buggy through the high country station with stunning views of the snow capped mountains and planted a native tree.
After lunch in town we drove to Glenorchy to stay at the wonderful Headwaters eco lodge where Enger showed us how to weave traditional baskets and we enjoyed an electric buggy drive down the Dart river. More delicious 4 course meals were enjoyed each evening and we went for walks by the lake and had yoga every morning.
If you care about seeing the real New Zealand, you are in the right hands. Enger and Hygi have all the skills and knowledge to ensure you experience the very best of the South island.

A friend and I went on a 2-day trip to Glenorchy with Enger & Hygi from Tiaki Tours and we had the most amazing experience (to say the least!).
Our accommodation was at the Headwaters Eco Lodge which totally blew our socks off! We had daily morning yoga session and farm-to-table breakfast and dinner at the lodge.
My highlight was when Enger taught us traditional Māori weaving (Raranga) and we left with our own little Kete (flax basket). Enger is an amazing storyteller so it was great to learn more about the culture and language.
If you are seeking an authentic experience in the South Island with a focus on sustainability and luxury, I would HIGHLY recommend jumping on a tour with Hygi and Enger!

I had such a good trip away with Tiaki Tours. They sorted all of the logistics with our input of course, tailoring our experience, which meant I could really relax into and enjoy everything we did together. It felt like a road trip with friends even though I had only just met most of the group. The tour was excellent and meant we saw some incredible landscapes, ate delicious food, and had laughs along the way. Would do it again with them in a heartbeat 💓

You feel like a local travelling with Enger and Hygi.
I felt connected to the amazing places and people and learnt so much about how to travel responsibly and how good it feels to look after these precious places while we experience them. Such a wonderful experience - I highly recommend Tiaki Tours!

Delicious food, lots of laughs and loved the luxury eco accomodation with its attention to all the details, super inspiring. The drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy is pure, take your breath away, magic. We stopped along the way to stroll in the forest and take in the epic views. Highly recommend taking a trip with Enger and Hygi. They are the perfect complementary guides. I also really enjoyed the spiritual connection that Enger wove with Maori language and concepts throughout the tour.

We had a lovely trip with Tiaki Tours to Makarora and Lake Hāwea station - both were fun, aventurous, informative days but at an unhurried pace so we were able to enjoy the experience.
We had delicious food and a comfortable stay at Makarora.
Enger and Hygi were the perfect hosts/ guides - welcoming, knowledgeable and easy going.
Would highly recommend Tiaki tours if you are interested in a sustainable eco- tourist experience of beautiful NZ South Island - these guys know it is a “taonga” treasure to look after and cherish.
