Steady climb of about 45 mins on a well maintained track. Well worth the climb. Would perhaps go anti-clockwise next time.

Not that long ago a trek up mount iron might find you meeting one or two locals walking the dogs, but now it is very busy. A steep climb in places but the views backover the lake or up the valley towards Lugate are well...More

Well worth the effort. Medium level of fitness required as steep in places but the view from the top makes the effort worthwhile. A must do in Wanaka if you have the time and the stamina!

Do the loop track. Its a good climb to the top, but great track. Beautiful views all around 360 degrees.

Excellent fitness walk - steep climb up, but you are warm by the time you start ascending - rewarded with sensational views at the top - you'll see looks of locals (some with their dogs) on the way! Very popular, close to town & time...More

Great short walk best done in the morning for spectacular views of Lake Wanaka and Mountains. The track is wide and pretty.

Arrived in Wanaka after lengthy journey and needed some exercise. A straightforward enough walk up of c50 mins and some decent views at the top. Worth the hike. But not that special compared to some of the hills/sights we have seen recently.

This is a fairly easy walk up Mount Iron and the views are great! The lake looks so pretty from the top and the color of the iron coming out of the rocks as you ascent is really striking!

Hi, As in the previous answer - go out of Wanaka and park up on the left hand side of the road - no problems re parking. Go through the gate which is marked - towards the signed trail. You can go up one side and down the... More
