What a wonderful idea. They have sown the fields with lavender making it very pleasing to the eye, not to mention the beautiful smells.
Well worth a stop and a walk amongst the fields. Entry is free
There is a shop there to bug goods, no pressure to buy

You can’t miss this attraction on the way to Mount Cook especially when the lavender is in bloom! Great photo opportunity!

Read the awesome story of behind the success of the business. Website said open daily from 9am to 5pm. Did a big detour to visit the shop and ice cream knowing that the lavender field bare.
A Closed Sign at the gate welcomed us. Very disappointing. Operating hour should state clearly on the Website, tripadvisor site and Facebook.

On main road to Mt Cook. Surprised at how ‘temporary’ it was as it is a farm with two purple painted shipping containers. One sells creams, oils etc and the other sells drinks and ice cream. We enjoyed the ice cream though couldn’t really taste the lavender in the chocolate one but maybe better and stronger in the vanilla option. Expensive at $8 we thought. Wandered the farm which was free when we were there as presumably flowering season was nearly finished.

The farm is situated on the way to Mt. Cook. It was free of charge to visit but now you need to pay $5 per person. The $5 can be deducted if you buy anything from the sovereign shop.

When the lavender is in bloom (we went just after Christmas), this is a lovely spot to take some photos and get ice cream. It costs $5NZD pp entry, which you can offset as a discount on any lavender products you purchase at the gift cart. There is also lavender ice cream for purchase which I would love to try next time I return.

We stopped here after seeing it on our way to mount cook. Absolutely beautiful, with bumblebees and lavender everywhere. The lavender and berry ice cream was delicious, I would go back just for that! Passionate owners, great to talk too.

We were there in mid January and it was in full bloom there. Check out their website New Zealand Alpine Lavender. Because its in a more alpine area the bloom may be at a different time to other parts of NZ.
