We did not know what to expect. The tour did not disappoint us. Instructions to the meeting place were correct. The tour started on time. The guides were knowledgeable. The visit to Laguna Grande was great. However, we found out during a later visit to the Cabezas de San Juan Preserve that the light intensity in the Bio Bay is... More

In early July, we booked a tour on the electric engine boat to the Bioluminescence Lagoon in Fajardo, Puerto Rico for an early December sailing for 4 people. We received a confirmation promptly and assumed we were good to go. Just over a week before our departure, we received an e-mail and luckily we noticed that the departure time had... More

So this was cool - I loved taking a boat instead of kayaking bc there are bats in the mangroving that kept swooping down lol I would have freaked if I had been kayaking at such a slow pace -- The boat was awesome and tour guides were great - it was a really cool experience, however the photos you... After reading dozens of reviews that all said the same thing about kayaks I focused on finding an electric boat company. The number of kayak companies operating, plus groups of 10-15 kayaks per tour made the narrow channel to the lagoon very crowded. Many seemed to be first time kayakers and all in the dark. For just a few dollars... More

This was an wonderful tour. We took the 7:30 tour and it was nice and dark (only a quarter moon). As we rode through the mangrove channel, we watched the kayakers pass by, some struggling. So glad we did the boat! When we got to the lagoon, they pulled tarps up the side so it would block any moonlight so... More

Captain Jeff, Carlos and our guide Mario were terrific. We had originally planned to make this tour in Kayaks with another company. We decided that learning to kayak (none of us had any kayaking experience) in the dark in a Mangrove stand may not be the smartest thing to do. What a great choice. Captain Jeff had his hands full... The staff was soooo friendly and fun. They had outgoing fun personalities and made sure everyone enjoyed the little trip. The kayaks seemed like it would be a fun experience but it was nice to not have to do any work and just enjoy sitting on a boat.

Although the tour guide and captain were nice enough and shared good information on the bay and surrounding mangroves, the luminescence of the bay was dismal at best. We scheduled our trip at the new moon to minimize any ambient light, but we still needed to put tarps over our heads and agitate the water with sticks to see minimal... More

We had a fabulous trip with BioIsland in a motor boat. They made the trip really special, for all ages from 4-40, and our tour guide Mario was extremely knowledgeable. We saw bats, iguanas, fish, sponges, amazing stars, and tons of plankton. Great tour!

We took the 7:45PM electric boat ride through the mangroves to the bioluminescent lagoon. The tour was well done. It was safe, but did require the ability to climb on a step stool into and out of the boat. The boat only takes 6 people at a time due to balancing weights with the tides. The naturalist was very knowledgeable.... More
