Unforgettable family experience. We sailed to Culebra and Vieques and had a wonderful time secluded, looking at the stars, and snorkeling. Migdalia, Jose and Sail Caribe crew were attentive to every detail. They helped us arrange transportation from San Juan airport, who stopped by Amigo grocery store for provisions. The boat was new and in great condition, very clean and fully equipped galley. The dinghy was good too although we would’ve done an upgrade to fit four people (ideally 10+ hp outboard). We loved Cayo Luis Peña and eating at Mamacita’s in Culebra. We got stuck because of weather and found good shelter in Ensenada Honda in Culebra and Sun Bay in Vieques. For next time we will plan to spend more time in Punta Arenas and Bahia de La Chiva. Our daughters (14 and 11) loved the experience

I recently completed my third charter with Sail Caribe. I was once again very impressed with the condition of the boat— she was clean, well equipped and all the important stuff worked. More importantly, Sail Caribe provides a level of personal and caring service you will never find with the larger charter companies. Migdalia will guide you through all the preliminaries via e-mail or phone in advance and Jose and Joelle will be there to teach you everything you need to know about the boat when you arrive. Most importantly (and unlike any other company I’ve ever chartered with), Jose gives you his cell phone number so you can call him day or night if any problems arise (or if you just need some advice about the best place to anchor that night). Sail Caribe is a Class A operation from beginning to end.

We had a wonderful charter experience with Sail Caribe on a nearly new Lagoon 450F. Easy transfers from San Juan to Fajardo with stops at the grocery store to provision for the trip. Super nice and knowledgeble support staff transferred our gear to the boat quickly.

Had a detailed briefing on the boat and cruising grounds (we have cruised here before with Sail Caribe 5 years ago!). We were off quickly to the Spanish Virgin Islands.

Best beaches in the Caribbean - Culebra and Culebrita. Wonderful people, great food & drink. Super warm water and great sailing.

Sail Caribe outfits their boats well for their owners and everything aboard worked easily.

Easy return to Marine Del Rey and quick offloading and debrief.

Would definately recommend Sail Caribe and the Spanish Virgin Islands over the crowded BVI. Better boats and less people along the way - you can have an anchorage all to yourself!

The yacht was the worst charter of my 40 years of sailing.

During the first day, the dingy fell off the davit when a clevis on the lifting harness broke. The dingy lifting windlass only operated correctly on shore power. At sea, it often started by itself and also refused to operate when commanded. The throttle controls were severely corroded, resulting in a significant safety hazard when operating a loaded dingy.

The generator failed when the key on the water pump impeller shaft was sheared off !! (No explanation from the technician in P.R. or the Captain. No foreign material found in strainer or pump.

As a result, we were without 120vac, battery charging & Air Cond for >54 hours.
The microwave tripped out BOITH 120vAC circuit breakers. The aftermarket water-maker failed without any instructions, manuals, spares or electrical wiring information. The washer consumed >20 gallons of water, never finishing the wash cycle. The coffee maker leaked coffee into the electrical distribution panel.

The boat exhibited several 12vdc distribution issues relating to resettable protective devices, and an unidentified audible alarm operated at random times. The "Navigation" 12dc breaker does NOT power down ANY of the devices on the helm, Powering down the chart plotter on the screen, only temporarily shuts down the chart plotter. It powers up without any external input/commands a few min latter.

The Sail Caribe support Captains did all within their capabilities and undefined (?) limitations to address the problems. However, even they had no general support data or materials at hand nor did they have data/materials specific to water maker or generator.

Sail Carbe has no support base/facilities in Red Hook, or anywhere else in USVI. Their web site says they have a base on Tortola, but apparently that is also not true.

Dear Mr. Chief_Dave168, We are truly sorry that the vessel presented some issues and left you with a bad feeling. We at SailCaribe work diligently on a preventative maintenance schedule to make sure all of the systems aboard our vessels are in top operating order. We never let a vessel leave without everything working 100% and all systems being checked out and verified by our guests before they leave the dock. We are also one of the few companies that have a 24-hour charter support and response system in place. This includes a high-speed chase boat to get our techs to the vessels to solve problems in the quickest and safest time frame. It is worth noting that we DID solve the problems aboard your vessel in this fashion. Also worth noting and clarifying Mr. Chief_Daves168's erroneous statements is that as many know, we do in fact have our Dock facility at AHY in Red Hook and did in fact dispatch support to his vessel. It's true we do not have a base in the BVI, however, we never stated such. We value our customers and their reviews/opinions, but it's important to be fair and not misleading. Chartering a vessel these days is for sure more technical than it was 40 years ago. One thing that has stayed the same is the beauty of our islands and the quality of true Caribbean sailing. We will always strive to improve where we can so that all of our guests can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of a SaiCaribe charter experience.

Great, easy going staff that was attentive and helpful. They took care of all of our needs and concerns. Migdalia, in the office, was extremely helpful, especially with navigating COVID restrictions. We had a wonderful charter, even though Culebra and Vieques were just beginning to open back up. Future charters will only improve, as the islands’ residents are being vaccinated on an accelerated schedule. The lack of hospitals on those islands made the protocols that much more important.

The Spanish Virgin Islands are a gem and I couldn’t recommend visiting both them, and using SailCaribe more.

Both were wonderful, and we can’t wait to return!

Rented the Pov 2 for a week. To start After getting our sailing instruction we pulled up to the fuel dock. The attendant there was very rude and kept condescendingly telling us we should hire a captain because our twelve-year-old didn't throw the rope far enough to him. We own the sailboat for 8 years and are proficient sailors. Apparently the water system that pumps water from the ocean was broken so we had this huge water pumper on the outside of the boat on the floor next to the table so the table wasn't usable. We spent about 2 to 3 hours of every day pumping water from the ocean with a loud system. The door to the main cabin stuck so almost every time we try to get back into the cabin we were locked out. Almost every time we tried to raise the anchor the fuse with blow and we have to run down below. Also we were told the water pump might club with algae and that we would have to fix it ourselves. Also we were told the water pump might clog with algae and that we would have to fix it ourselves. The last day of sailing this happened and the correct tool to fix it was not on board. Jose is supposed to be reachable by phone 24 hours A-day but it took about 5 hours to reach him and he didn't help at all. Also keep in mind your only chance for getting food is in the town you leave from the dock, So don't think there will be food to eat on any of those little deserted islands or even real grocery stores.

First and foremost, we value and appreciate each one of our customers' choices in selecting SailCaribe and putting their trust in us to fulfill their expectation of a fantastic and memorable sailing charter. It’s also important to note the value we place in each Trip Advisor review. These reviews are a great resource to learn more and get information about one’s prior experience. This helps in making an informed decision about what to expect. With all due respect, we would like to take this opportunity to weigh in on Brianna’s review to emphasize some important details and provide some clarity. - At SailCaribe, we review every application to charter and each sailing resume before each charter. We gently and respectfully brief each client and reserve the right to offer or in some cases insist that a captain go along for some time to ensure that no risks are being taken and the client does not suffer some misfortune due to something that could have been avoided. - Most but not all of our vessels are equipped with a water maker. A water maker makes fresh water from sea water. A water maker is a very nice and luxurious item to have aboard to replenish the water supply while on charter. We regret that certain aspects of the water maker operation were not to Brianna’s liking. - The sliding doors on some catamarans have nuances that are different from household sliding doors. The anchor windlass, which is a winch to raise the anchor has a protection breaker which will trip if the device is under an extraordinary load. We regret that these nuances were a distraction and will ensure that on the POVII and on all of our boats that each device is operating within the manufacturer’s safety limits. - Seaweed or "Sargasso ' is a natural phenomenon that can best be described as mother nature at work. The Sargasso weed can clog water intakes. We brief each guest on how to remedy this situation. We regret that this can be challenging situation. Captain Jose has a stellar reputation in helping our guests with any and all situations. Jose is an invaluable resource to the safety and happiness of our guests. Jose will always happily make himself available even if you have a question before you arrive for your charter - The Puerto Rican Municipalities of Fajardo, Culebra and Vieques have substantial populations which depend on numerous supermarkets and food stores. Each guest is carefully briefed on provisioning. Perhaps to get more clarity or information, a simple google search would be helpful. Of course, we are always happy to offer advice and clarity. Contact Miggie at customer service anytime. She loves to offer any advice and recommendations. Feel free to reach out anytime to anyone from the SailCaribe team. We love what we do, we love our guests and take great pride in offering the best sailing charter experience one could expect. Respectfully, Jim

I have Bare Boat chartered with numerous charter companies and Sail Caribe stands out as the best. They are extremely customer focused, personal, attentive and friendly. The staff were all helpful from the beginning of booking to the exit from the boat. Migdalia at the office answered every call and email immediately and provided all requested information. She was welcoming and informative. Joel and Scott in our initial briefing and throughout the charter as we had questions and had to come back to the dock due to a named storm were excellent. They understood we wanted to be off the slip and sailing and made sure our briefing was early and quick and our release from the slip after the storm passed happened ASAP. Sail Caribe also allowed us to return later on the last day which was very welcomed.
Great people and great company. We will definitely be chartering with Sail Caribe again!

Sailcaribe is the best company I've chartered from! Communication is just the best in any industry; Migdalia and her team respond to any communication right away; when in site, Jose is available and very knowledgeable.
The boat (Elbacilon) was in mint conditions, everything worked perfectly, and the staff at the marina is extremely helpful.
Will charter from them again for sure!

Long time charterer, 1st time in Spanish Virgins. Great experience based on the location and SailCaribe.
The SVIs are like a throwback of what the BVIs used to be, so few boats / no racing to moorings, quiet. Lots of exploring, hiking, secluded beaches, wind and waves (Dec).
SailCaribe is a small charterer with a personal touch (no checkout/check-in waits) and flexibility. We had a 3 yr old cat in really, really good shape, unlike several charters we've encountered.
Logistics are easy; lots of flights into PR, 1 hr taxi to base (provisioning stop on the way) then straight to boat or shore side room next to dock.
We'll be back!

The Sail Caribe team provided our family excellent support and an incredible family sailing adventure in a tropical paradise that can match no other. We chartered the 46' Lagoon Cat and was in excellent condition. All equipment was in great working order and allowed us to have stress free sailing. I would highly recommend Sail Caribe Yacht Charters to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing time on the water.
