Not only the highlight of our vacation, but also confirmed that Puerto Rico has some of the nicest people on the planet! We spent the afternoon with Carlito, Juan and Freddy on their boat (Fish Tank) to snorkel in Vieques. The snorkeling was amazing; tropical fish, rays, and turtles, but the crew made the trip special. They made sure everyone on the voyage had a great time (30 total), saw all the wildlife and stayed safe (safety was a priority for the tour, the ship and the crew). Folks of all abilities were able to snorkel, SUP and swim. We were traveling with our 10 and 6 year old sons and they also made the trip extra special for them. My 6 year old is a little timid, but they had him snorkeling in no time. He was one of the last ones back on the boat. I can’t recommend this outfit more highly. We’ve been on boat trips around the world and this one left us smiling for days!

Vieques snorkel tour: Excellent experience due to the very attentive and courteous tour guides and crew! We were traveling with our nine year old son, who is not yet a strong swimmer and was especially tentative in the ocean. Juan, the tour’s marine biologist, made sure that our son felt safe in the water and had a wonderful experience! He essentially attached my son to his lifeguard floater and gave him a private tour making sure he got to see turtles (even a baby one), puffer fish, snapper, and a giant Southern Stingray! He even swam down with my son’s underwater camera and took pictures for him! Although I stayed with Juan and my son, his guidance allowed my husband and I to still enjoy the snorkeling experience as well. Lunch was yummy all things considered and it was a wonderful touch to have an adult beverage waiting once the excursion was a success. By the end of the tour my son was jumping off the side of the boat! I can’t say enough about Pure Adventure and their team….especially if you’re traveling with kids!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guides (Javier, Natalia, Enrique, Amaory, and Catalina) were great! They were fun, informative, and even taught us how to catch these glowing jelly creatures that were abundant that night. From what I understand, the bioluminescence is dependent on luck and weather, but I felt the experience in general was super fun. I would recommend wearing water shoes or shoes that you don’t mind being submerged in water since you need to wade in water to get to the kayaks. Each kayak holds two people, so I also recommend going in a group with an even number of people. The traffic getting to and from the bay gets tight but it’s totally doable and once you get to the bay, there’s plenty of room to explore!

As an experienced snorkeler in the Caribbean, and as any experienced snorkeler in the Caribbean should know, most of the reefs are dead. They still have a beauty to them and the tours have no control over the fact that the corals are 99% dead. Coral grow at 1/10 of an inch per year. And sunscreen and human touch can have devastating effects on them. I almost wonder (hope) that they bring tourists on such excursions to the dead coral to protect the live coral growing elsewhere. That being said... They brought us to a beach on Vieques and told us "here is where to try out the snorkeling gear and get used to it" "because once we're out at the deeper part, it will be too late" and we should ask any questions at the beach. I have been on other snorkeling excursions where they asked if anyone had never done snorkeling before. Rather than relying on less experienced people to speak up.Luckily I
was able to show my first time snorkeling girlfriend what to do. They also gave no warnings of how to stay safe. One of our group swam out and immediately stood on the coral shelf. They THEN yelled out to him not to stand on the reef. I pointed out a bunch of sea urchins to my gf the "marine biologist" guides never warned anyone about. We did see the largest sting ray I have ever seen about 12-15 feet below us and a couple of sea turtles. I did feel like they were trying to give us a really good experience and for me and my girlfriend it was but if it had not been for my prior experience I wonder.

Best snorkeling ever !!! The crew was absolutely amazing and Barreto a great captain. I know Juan mentioned he was a marine biologist but Donovan was very informative about the marine life as if though he was a marine biologist himself. 10/10 would recommend again and again

Juan was an incredibly knowledgeable marine biologist and guide on our 4-hour snorkel trip. He was happy to answer any and all questions I had and was a wealth of knowledge regarding birds, fish, sargassum, whales, geography, oceanography, and much more! We were lucky enough to see 8 green sea turtles, porcupine pufferfish, an octopus, stingrays, parrotfish, urchins, anemones, coral, and wrasse. It was a good balance between a guided tour and a self-guided time to snorkel while near the beach area. The trip we initially scheduled was unfortunately canceled due to weather conditions, but we were immediately offered an alternative time the following day. Everyone at Pure Adventure was incredibly kind and helpful, and the price for this trip was reasonable.

It was a beautiful experience unique and special. The comments about the first tour being better than the second are very TRUEEEE ! We had a better time being able to experience and appreciate the mangroves and the sunset, and being able to see the glow. The customer service was great, we loved all of the tour guides. Natalia was special she gave us a little more information about Puerto Rico and the culture . It was the perfect tour to end our vacation. Highly recommend !

Our 2023 girls trip of 30 (ish 😉) year old moms was complete with our day spent snorkeling. We had THE BEST time! Our original plan was to visit Culebra, due to whether our trip was changed to Vieques. Because of the location change, our trip was 2 hours shorter than we had originally booked. We were refunded a percent of our payment due to the change.
Jessica’s communication was excellent. Our captain and crew were fun, professional, safe and made our experience one we will never forget. The lunch provided was great and so were the drinks after being in the water! We saw many schools of fish, stingrays, 6 turtles and beautiful views throughout.
Recommendations:
1. Bring dry clothes for afterwards.
2. waterproof phone pouch (test these before you trust them)
3. use the “practice time” to make sure your equipment fits you properly before you go into deep water.
Overall, we LOVED our experience and would definitely recommend!

I went with my girlfriend, we both agreed that it was the best experience we had in Puerto Rico. We have read some of the reviews from previous customers and we picked the 6:00pm “sunset tour”. It was great the mangrove canal was beautiful we were able to appreciate nature and see all the animals. The sunset was a great we were also able to see the yunque and a lighthouse. The information about bioluminescence was very well explained and made it simple for everyone to understand even kids. They also showed us some starts and we were able to see shooting stars.
The tour guides were great we had Javier, Amaury, Enrique, Natalia and Catalina. They all had their own trait to remember them by, Javier showed us the stars. Amaury taught us how to kayak. Enrique was a great singer and good conversation. Catalina was very welcoming and funny. Natalia was very polite and made sure we understood everything so we wouldn’t leave without any questions. They are all great but Natalia is our FAVORITE!
Also, mosquitos were bad so take bug spray.

Sorry, just seeing this. I had a rental vehicle during my time in Puerto Rico. I highly recommend getting your own vehicle. I drove to the place to meet up with your company so IDK the fees, if any, for being picked up from hotels.

Hello,
We have not done the snorkel tour in Culebra. The age of your 4-year old maybe a bit of an issue, they may not be able to endure a full day tour and the equipment may not fit properly. I definitely would call to and ask questions. The tour I am sure is going to show you specific areas that are cool.
The other option is get your own snorkeling equipment on the main land and they are inexpensive. Walmart is probably your best option but I am sure there are other places. I just did a quick check and you can get mask, flippers and breather for less than $20. I know Walmart has kid sizes, because I got a set for my son when he was 5/6. The amount that you would pay for the tour you can get our own stuff go the Flamenco beach. You can enjoy the day at your own pace and not have to worry about a young one running out of steam. You can eat at the Kiosks; the prices are reasonable and the food is good.
If you take the boat you can bring a cooler too if you want to bring food and drink.
Bring plenty of sun block in either case.

We work Monday-Saturday for the Bio Bay (we do not open on Sundays ) and do 2 tours, a 6:05pm and a 8:05pm tour.
You will be able to enjoy the bioluminescence in either tour. The only difference is that at the early tour you are going to be able to see more of the mangrove trees and the sunset. By the time you get to the Lagoon it's going to be dark. For beginners, families, small kids, we always try to recommend the 6:05pm tour.
The bioluminescence is very unpredictable so it's very difficult to say where the water glows more, there are a lot of factors that contribute to it.
I invite you to join us in this beautiful trip. You may proceed to reserve online or by phone.
Also remember we have our awesome daily snorkel/ dive trip to Vieques and/or Culebra, and if you book both tours you get $10 off per person on your second excursion (or more) .

We also have 1 tank in the afternoons.

Do you have Electric boat ride to Biobay? Can I do online reservations? Would 15 month old toddler be ok to travel in electric boat? what would be recommended time to get good experience of viewing luminescence?
