Sanya led our tour on 2/1/20 and the first thing I noticed was her passion and joy for her people and her country. So many people came to her with joy for hugs and hellos as we made our path to places I never would have ventured on my own, to learn and understand outside the gates of the protected port shops. Great stops for food and culture, all questions welcomed and my heart feels truly welcomed - by the country and by this company. Thank you, Sanya. I would highly recommend this tour.

Sanya was our guide on the Falmouth Walking History/Food Tour. She did an outstanding job of introducing us to the people, places and food of Jamaica! We had booked our tour online and easily connected with Sanya at the port after arriving on a cruise ship. The 3 hour tour was so interesting and the food delicious. Do not miss it.

We decided not to book a cruise ship shore excursion and look on our own. We found great reviews of this culinary tour and signed up. My husband and I were so happy we did. The 3 hour tour took us around Falmouth (about a mile or so overall), with 5 stops for food tastes. By the end, we were full but very happy. Combining a walking tour with history lessons and food was perfect. Sanya was fantastic - high energy and very warm. I'm pretty sure she knows everyone in town! We couldn't recommend this more - if you are wondering what to do in Falmouth, look no more.

We booked this online a from our resort 3 miles away. We met the guide at the courthouse and proceeded to the Port to meet the rest of the group . Our guide was from the area and gave an excellent overview of the history, foods of Jamaica and their culture. It was a fun tour and the only way to navigate the town. The price was reasonable as well!

We just finished this amazing tour with Sanya, who shared local Falmouth food and history with us for three hours. If I could give this tour more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Sanya was obviously passionate about her job, and care was taken to keep us safe, happy, and well-fed. All of the food stops were outstanding, and the tour required some but not an extensive amount of walking. I recommend this tour without hesitation!

Let me first say, I am a Jamaican and quite used to the best of Jamaican fare. I chose to take this tour because I wanted to get to know more about Falmouth, as we only drive through it on our way to Montego Bay. I also wanted to observe the renovations taking place in this historic, now very topical, seaside town and to experience this new tour which promised to weave Jamaica's history and culture into samplings of our sweet and savoury delights. And it delivered!
We took a leisurely drive from Kingston on the morning of the tour (best to give yourself 3 1/2 hours minimum travel time; more if you want to make scenic stops along the way). The tour started promptly and began on the recently revamped, but historic Falmouth Pier where the first tasting was experienced: a variety of tropical fruit, sweet, and all at their freshest best; a healthy way to start the morning's fare. Without revealing the details of the other offerings received during the walking tour through the quaint streets of this port town, let me just say why I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it:
The tour was:
Well-planned - We were told what to bring and how to dress, the pace for the 3-hour tour was comfortable, the route provided visual appeal, with points of interest for much conversation.
Authentic - Taking you through the main streets and side alleys for a literal and figurative "real taste of Jamaica", sharing with us the historic value of the town, its Georgian architectural details, while exposing the group to the live fruit trees and plants growing in the kitchen gardens and backyards of residents, the picked fruits, tubers and vegetables on sale by market vendors, and the prepared foods done in the Jamaican way by ordinary Jamaicans who cook, and cook extraordinarily well, and for a living.
Educational - The tour guide was knowledgeable of our history, detailed how the foods we eat came to be a part of our culinary culture, and managed our group well as we meandered along the streets and sidewalks. We were introduced to vendors and interacted easily with them.
Delicious - the tastings were well-proportioned, presented on a timely basis, each providing much variety, and freshly prepared or tree-ripened, depending on the type of offering.
I recommend this tour for Jamaican residents, for our Jamaican Diaspora returning for a visit - especially with their children who were not born here, as well as for all our foreign visitors, whether they are here on vacation or have a day's break from a business trip. Jamaica Culinary Tours provided us with a real Jamaican experience.

I LOVED this tour and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to sample Jamaican cuisine. Sonya was amazing, her personality is out of this world...she has a way of making you feel like you've known her your entire life. I actually owe a debt of gratitude to our table mates who told us about this tour at the last minute...although we just kind of showed up, the crew never missed a beat incorporating my mom and I in at the last minute. This is a walking food tour (about a mile in all), the tour guide is fully knowledgeable about the history of the area and dispenses that information in an exciting way. I will definitely be telling all of my friends about this company...zero complaints!

Dear LevFal11,
A big thank you for your "phenomenal" review of our Falmouth Food Tour! We too owe a debt of gratitude to your table mates for recommending our Tour to you, and were so glad that we were able to accommodate your mother and yourself at short notice. It was indeed a pleasure to host you both!
We're so pleased that you found the Tour to be such a wonderful experience, and that you were appreciative of the exciting and interactive manner in which our Tour Guide conducted the Tour and shared information with you about the history of Falmouth and the foods which you sampled.
Thank you so much for recommending the Tour to others. We hope we'll have a chance to host you and your mother again!

This small company is challenged finding 5 food stops in the town of Falmouth. I think they did a great job educating us and we came away full and happy. One warning - these are not standard tourist areas so stay with the tour and hope you don't have to use the toilet until the end.
We sampled sugar cane and fresh fruit at a stall, learned about tropical fruit in the very crowed local market, at a delicious Jamaican patty with the locals, learned about and sampled different coconuts, had some great jerk chicken and some local desserts all while enjoying a very informative walking tour of the town.
I highly recommend this tour for adults, teens and children in strollers, but I would not bring a small child (I think they'd be bored) Note that there is no pork served anywhere - all beef, chicken, fruit and vegetables.

This was the highlight of our stop in Jamaica. Sanya, our tour guide, is informative, entertaining, and obviously proud of her home town. She gave us a great introduction to the history and culture of Falmouth. She also either knows or is related to almost everyone in town, so by the end of the tour we were on a first name basis with half the population of Falmouth. The food is good and plentiful. Expect a long walk in the hot sun, but the food and history stops are fairly close together so you get to cool off. Probably not a good idea to bring small children because of the length and amount of walking involved. (Also, if you are on a budget, notice that this tour costs about half of the lowest-priced tour available on board the cruise ship.)

I cannot begin to express how much fun me, my mom, and sister had on our tour of Falmouth with Sanya and Sherilee. Right away they adopt and treat you like family, and they are so happy to show-off their home and culture to their guests.
The guides meet you at the port very close to the ship and deliver you back inside the port following the tour. The tour is scheduled for 2.5 – 3 hours, however you need to budget a full 4 hours and not cut times close if you plan on doing anything else in the afternoon while in Falmouth. At $49 for adults, you will not find a better value for any tour anywhere in Jamaica! Janet Crick is the owner who is very good at email communication during the reservation process, and Janet may show up to take pictures of the group during the tour. I have visited Falmouth and Ocho Rios a few times before, and I can assure you this was by far my best experience on any Jamaican tour.
I learned so much about Falmouth during my tour, and you won’t get that level of history on many other tours. Of course, be ready to eat! We sampled lots of different foods from fruits (the best and sweetest pineapple ever is grown in Jamaica), to a meat patty sandwich on bread, coconut water and shavings, jerk chicken, and more! The ladies carry water bottles for you, but you will want to arrive with a bottle per person and keep hydrated; also, wear very comfortable shoes as it’s a lot of walking on uneven streets/sidewalks. The tour eventually winds down with some sweets at their offices, which is located in a beautiful historic home – they have souvenirs available for purchase but never pressure you to buy (I bought some bamboo cups that we used on our tour to drink the coconut water); and they will “protect” you from the other street vendors who badger you close to the port. Make sure you have some cash for gifts and tips as they don’t accept credit cards on the tour.
Many of the tours in Jamaica carry you to high adventure spots like Dunn’s River, Martha Brae, Good Hope, and other hiking or adventure tours and you rarely get a real appreciation for the community; however on this tour, you will sample local foods, learn about the area’s rich history, and really interact with local people, who are just as excited to meet you as you are to meet them.
Have fun in Jamaica - ya mon!

Yes, we did it from a cruise. The meeting and drop off location is the port (Falmouth). Plenty of time before and after after the tour to explore the port. I believe that this info is on their website.

Hi Alexis,
Thank you very much for your interest in our tours and for your query. We have had a few gluten free guests on our tour before and they have thoroughly enjoyed the tour. For the Falmouth Food Tour, there is only one tasting which you will have to skip entirely, as it takes place in a bakery, and unfortunately everything prepared there would have gluten in one form or other. You can enjoy all the other tastings in part or in full along with the extensive information and sharing on our history, culinary traditions and culture. The same is true for our Falmouth to St. Ann combo walking and bus tour.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions. You may do so by clicking on the "Contact Us" button on our website.

If you're doing the Falmouth Food Tour, we meet you right on the Port in the centre of the courtyard. Our tour guides will meet you at the first green and yellow Tours and Information kiosk. As others have indicated above, it's a very short walk from the disembarkation area - less than a 2 minute walk.

It looks like your question was answered. There was one stop where we had meat, one stop where we had chicken. The other tops would be fine for a vegetarian. I am sure the lovely folks who run the tour would be happy to accommodate your needs. Just let them know.
