You really have to see this to believe it. What a magical experience.
You drive out (on a boat) in the pitch black to a remote spot. As soon as you jump in everybody is mesmerized. The water really does glow when you move around.
There were places of cold and warm water and you could definitely feel the difference. The guides explain all about why this happens and ensure you have a great time.
It is really difficult to take photos, They have their own camera and will take some photos of you, but these can be expensive so i recommend having a good waterproof camera.

Transportation here is the most confusing/expensive part of the experience. I guess they offer $25 pickup but you have to have a minimum number of people. I ended up doing a combined Rosehall Great House / Luminous Lagoon private driver tour w/ Jamaica Get Away Travels for $50pp x 3 ppl w/ pickup at our hotel in Montego Bay. Admission to the Lagoon is $25pp which is pricey but this is a unique experience that I think is worth paying for. You get a free small rum punch or fruit punch and then hop on a boat for a few minutes into the middle of the lake, where you can swim around and marvel at the electric blue dinoflagellates which make you feel like you're in the movie Avatar. The lake is not deep but at 5'8" I did not feel like I could just stand up, so I would recommend wearing a provided life vest if you're worried about your swimming. Apparently there are small jellyfish which can sting you--my wife and I did not get stung but a couple of other tourists did, although they said it just felt like a momentary pinprick. When done swimming, you get back on the boat and they swing it in a large crescent for a sweeping trail of blue light, which would be your best picture opportunity as the light is otherwise pretty dim.

Great experience especially on a dark night. It took about an hour and a half from Ocho Rios but the glistening waters were truly amazing once we got there. We took a boat out into the lagoon and could see the glistening blue water as the boat raced forward. Once the boat stopped we jumped in and could see the water glistening. You had to make a big splash jump in and move around to see the bright blue glistening water. It is ideal to have water shoes as the bottom of the lagoon has a lot of muddy silt. It was difficult to take clear pictures on the phone but luckily there is a professionally photographer on board who takes great pictures which cost approx $30. This was a great experience and we were provided with a lot of rum on board and a very informative guide.

The best part of this excursion was our shuttle driver from the hotel to the lagoon. Seriously....save your money. We were so excited to go, $60 US we started 1 rum punch, a show consisting of 2 ladies and a man, looking awkward, as if they were forced on the stage to dance, the boat ride into the lagoon, the driver was entertaining. We all jumped in the water, about 20 of us, had a very difficult time seeing any blue at all. The brochure showed this gorgeous blue lit up lagoon. Nothing like the false advertising. If you swam around fast and didn't touch the ground you could see some illumination but you had to find pockets that lit up, still, not blue. We weren't the only ones disappointed, everyone was complaining. I couldn't believe our Air Canada rep at the hotel was even selling or recommending this excursion. Save your money.

We were on the 2nd lot of boats going out, it was very busy. Waited around an hour for our boat in which time there was no fire show or anything as advertised. There are a few market stalls selling all the usual souvenirs, we did get some decent deals but did spend a fair bit.
When we got on the boat we were taken out into the middle of the lake and had around 30 minute swim time. The water was warm and the glow around us when we were treading water was amazing. For me it was one of those once in a lifetime experiences. The luminous blue colour was quite spectacular. Someone takes photos of you which I think were $30 and they are sent to you. We didn't buy any because the queue just to look at them was huge. When we got back off the boat we were told there was a fire show which had just finished, we had expected to see this, I asked why it wasn't on earlier when we were waiting and was told he only performs once per night!
All in all I did enjoy my time in the water but there was a distinct lack of anything to do whilst waiting for our boat.

To be honest this tour should cost around $20 max! When you arrive you sit for a little over an hour watching some teenagers dance. When they have time you get a very small cup of rum punch. When I finally got on the boat. The “captain” wasn’t friendly at all. No introduction of the rules on his boat (there was a lot) no explanation of what to do or when to do it. Out of nowhere the “photographer” said anyone else want a photo. The guide never even announced to get in the water. It was a joke! I did end up getting in the water and the water did have a glow to it. Wasn’t worth the money however. And definitely not the experience. The only announcement the guide had was to scream with excitement when we arrive at the dock and went on about he deserved a tip. No way! I felt really bad for inviting people from my resort. I was asked to by the guides after complaining to not share my experience publicly. I rely on reviews just as much as the next person.

We have been traveling with young children to this lagoon ( 7 and 9 y.o).
The minibus picked us up from the hotel at about 5.30pm. The transfer to the lagoon took us about 45min. We were greeted with a welcome cocktail upon arrival.
The tour itself started at 6.40pm when it was pretty dark. All of the groups of people were divided between 4 boats (each group had its ticket color). We were taken to the place where water was actually glowing (it took about 10 min on a boat in a complete darkness) and you could see that even by the traces on the water after the boat makes waves. The captain was with a good sense of humor. He made a trip a lot of fun. We were suggested lifejackets. Not everyone was swimming in that water. People with younger kids stayed on a boat. We did swim with kids and had a lot of fun! We were lucky to get there when there was no moon, it was extremely dark and the luminous effect was excellent!
Swimming took approximately 15-20min.
So the tour itself is pretty short.
The overall experience is great, but I think it's a bit overpriced ( $50 US adults, $35 kids).

The waters are warm and inviting, you will not see as much if you do not get in and swim. Beware if they have a photographer on board; we paid for 25 photos and only got 5 air dropped to us. If you do not see them all on the air drop do it again. We would definitely return for this one!

good experience and fun to swim and glowing. not recommend for kids, too dark, and the bay smell. Recommend a life jacket only to rest because for making them glowing you have to move all the time. our iphone and samsung were not good enough in the dark so no photo was taken. bying one from them is 30$ US way too expensive. the tour was 50$ US each . included bus transportation and 1 rum punch

This $75 per person ticket price is totally overpriced for what you actually receive. The water NEVER turned blue or lit up. The tour was actually a tourist trap for tourists to spend money on the overpriced bar and restaurant. The MUDDY water was nothing but a quick swim in a local lake. Please do not be fooled by the advertisements or marketing brochures. I have tried to contact the company for a full refund, to no avail. What a "freaking rip off".
