Absolutely brilliant day out !!!! You can meet so many birds that really want to interact with you and sit on your shoulder 😀 If you haven’t got food they fancy though - beware they’ll chomp buttons, peck at earrings and try to take your glasses off !! They are all such characters . It’s a day out like no other I’ve been on. There’s also a cafe and a play park for under 12s ( or thereabouts),- an undercover picnic area, a woodland walk, and a gift shop. Pleased to report also that the loos by the entrance are big enough to deal with pushchairs, wheelchairs, and young family groups, these can often be traumatically inadequate at similar attractions, and really start the day off badly. So well done to whoever organised them 😀 We ran out of time to visit the cafe, but the menu appeared to be fairly simple and reasonably priced. For anyone that takes a picnic there are several large tables and benches undercover, near the flamingo pond. All in all a really good day out - unless you don’t like tropical birds 😂😂

Visited on a Friday with my boyfriend after looking for fairly local days out whilst having a few days off work.
Was easy to find and there is free parking on site.
You need to pre book at the moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic as they are limiting numbers, entry price per person is reasonable. The one way system they have in place seemed to be effective and people were being respectful of social distancing and one another’s space for the most part.
We spent about an hour and a half here. You can buy a bag of treats for £1.50 to feed to the birds as you walk around.
A good variety of birds to see, some in cages, most freely roaming or flying.
I liked the walkthrough aviary and the highlight is definitely the bird walk where you can get up close to and hold/feed lots of birds particularly the parrots. The guy working in the bird walk area was really friendly and knowledgeable when we asked about some of the birds.
I definitely recommend a visit, you couldn’t spend a whole day here, but it’s worth it for a few hours, there is a kids play area and cafe, so if visiting with children you would probably stay a bit longer than we did.

We visited as a family on a windy and showery day. The admission prices were reasonable. We bought the bird food package for £4.50 consisting of nuts, fruit, mealworms and millet stalks.

It is a self-led tour and you go at your own pace. The walk through enclosures were clean and had a variety of birds. The woodland walk was pleasant and we saw several native birds, and 2 red and green macaws who were hanging out in an oak tree.

When we arrived a little orange parrot, called Mango, took a shine to my fluffy warm hood on my coat. He/she snuggled in next to my neck and slept as we walked around.

The budgie enclosure was fun as the budgies were very keen in the tubs of mealworms. Beautiful colours.

Keep the pouch of mixed nuts till the end, where there are many parrots perching outside. They are generally very friendly and will happily accept any nut offerings, some like fruit esp orange.

They did nibble on my teenager's coat and bit off bits of his zip and metal tings on his coat. Another wasn't happy to be encouraged back onto his perch, and pecked my husband's finger. There are warning signs about biting, so be mindful with young children.

We didn't use the cafe, but enjoyed our picnic on the woodland walk. We saw a play area. Parking was free.

We had a lovely time, took my Mother for a visit she loves birds, we had a great couple of hours walking around the birds, then a visit to the cafe for drinks and an ice cream, handmade cakes and locally produced milk and ice cream were available. Well worth the entrance fee.would recommend.

Really enjoyable experience. What makes this place different is being able to get close and interact with so many birds. Some wanted to be given treats, other wanted to be picked up or tickled. Many different birds from rare Hyacinth Macaws to the sweetest Sun Conure.
We didn’t do the woodland walk as we didn’t have the right footwear but I’m sure there will be a return visit. The admission price is very reasonable and you can finish off a visit with drink and snacks

My wife and I visited Birdland with our two young grandchildren on Bank Holiday Monday, and I’m sincerely glad that we arrived shortly before it opened. Even so, we were still at the end of a queue of around twenty people and by the time we got to the front, which took around ten minutes after opening, there had to be another thirty or so people behind us. Even as we wandered around it was still quite difficult to get into the enclosures where the birds were flying free. We did however get to the end where the birds are sitting on perches before the crowds arrived, so our grandchildren could feed the birds quite easily. We decided to walk around a second time and this time it was wall to wall people, and this was only around an hour after opening. We stayed two hours, which seemed a good time to leave as it was becoming what I would say rather overcrowded and was not too much fun by this time. When we exited there had to be a queue of around a hundred people waiting to get in. We’ve been to this attraction many times in the past as it isn’t too far from home but can never remember it being so congested. Saying that it is still a great place to spend the day, but my advice would be to avoid it on a Bank Holiday as everyone seems to have the same idea. We’ve been at other attractions on a Bank Holiday Monday, and although they have also been teeming with people, Birdland on this particular day was on another level from anywhere else we’ve visited on a Public Holiday. There is one point that I would like to raise and that is the blocking off of the door into the car park from the café. We intended going out this door after our second walk around, but because it was blocked off, we had to walk around part of the park again, and more importantly we had to take the kids through the gift shop which we didn’t want to do. Of course, this resulted in us having to buy them a toy which we had no intention of doing as we had already been spoiling them rotten in the last few weeks. Not a good decision as far as I’m concerned by Birdland and if I didn’t know any better I would say that the café exit had been blocked off to ensure that customers have to walk through the gift shop, or am I being too cynical?

Could do with a staff member or members cleaning the droppings up in all of the aviaries' and on the path ways, especially by the Military Macaws enclosure and inside it. Having worked in bird gardens previously the droppings are not fresh and have been there a number of days if not more than a week. This cleaning regime should all be completed by 10am before the public are allowed in, or is a ongoing work in progress regime so the public can see it, 3 times I have visited this place and came away with the same thoughts. Birds are fantastic however let down by Management. The pubic cafe area, needs a good cleaning as well, the outside area, we could not sit in the outdoor sheltered area as this was filthy the floor and tables could do with a good scrub again before the public arrives.

Great fun family day out. Was wheelchair accessible and easy to get around/follow paths which was a huge plus for me.

Plenty of opportunities to feed and hold parrots at the free flying section at the end but the caged birds were just as interactive.

There was a cafe there where we waited a long time for food but this was on a very busy, summer half term day. Toilets were also available (disabled one included) but they were a bit grim!

Overall though my experience was fantastic and we will 100% be coming back.

What a fantastic place! It took us nearly 3 hours to travel to there so we decided to stay locally overnight. It was a birthday treat for my husband during February half-term. He has a keen interest in birds, particularly parrots and this looked ideal. It was lovely to be able to interact so closely with the birds. We bought a selection of all the feeds for £4.50, which proved worthwhile. There was a chart explaining what each of the birds eat, although they certainly had their favourites. For example, the parrots seemed to like grapes or nuts. My husband was delighted when a blue macaw took a shine to him on 'parrot path'. He must have had the macaw on his shoulder for more than half an hour, until we decided to warm up in the cafe - the fire and hot chocolate in there was most welcome! Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the play area as the weather changed. We'd definitely like to try that next time we visit. The place is clean and spacious for the birds. It has a relaxed feel and gives you the opportunity to learn so much more about birds than we had previously. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable but not at all intrusive. Definitely worth a visit for all ages!

Words cant express how good this place is, must see experience for all the family, hands on experience in the walkway and with the 3 encloses with waterfowl, Alexandrines and Budgies/Cockertiels. The staff are very knowledgeable and approachable. Lauren took her time with my friend and myself and the confidence from the younger members of the team was good to see. everyone is a credit to their profession and all the birds were content, sone are a bit nippy but you are advised which ones not to handle, there were several Idiots trying to tease some of the birds but the staff dealt with them in a calm collective manner. I look forward to having play time with Glen again and cuddles with Daphne and Dexter. Hugo and his sister are also amazing.. thank you guys.
