Magical place

Walk from the visitor centre to the edge of the glacier, or climb up to the waterfall. We visited in October, it was a bit damp, but atmospheric. And so quiet!

There's a great trail that leads from the visitor centre to the beautiful lagoon, just under 2 km's away, that, unless you have severe restrictions, should be accessible to most people. You get a taste of the native vegetation along the way, and end up in an awesome place, with gorgeous chunks of the glacier floating in the water. The... More

The mountain ranges are fast with ice tops. Iceland landscape is so unique and beautiful. Definitely recommend going. Do look out for all the waterfalls

Good appointed hiking trails, beautiful scenery. Free toilets, parking place. On the camping sites are litttle stores or shops, restaurants/foodtrucks.

We arrived by mid-morning and the large parking lot at the visitor center was already full. We managed to find a spot and took advantage of the clean washrooms before setting on for our trek. We actually ended up taking the car further into the park right before the closed gates, and found a spot on a gravel parking lot... More

On our way to experience one of the largest glacier in Europe and within a half mile of the glacier our bus broke down. The choice was to stay with the bus or walk. I walked experiencing up close the topography seeing the reds and yellows of the low growing vegetation on pieces of many rocks. The glacier is immense... More

Words cannot describe this wonder, you needs plan at least 2-3 days to see most of these wonders. Recommend to base in Vik or near Jokulsarlon for easy access.

We made the long route of 15km named skaftafellsheidi loop. We did the 'black' route to kristinartindar. This was a bit sketchy at this time of year, but very fun and beautiful. Hike itself is about 4h30, stops not included

We have been hiking Skaftafell for a whole day and I can honestly say that it was worth every step. The views keep changing and the paths are pretty ok. The view of Skaftafelljokul is amazing.

Not spectaculair to walk to but nice to see at a distance. There are many more glacier which are far more beautifull in Iceland.
