We did a combo flight. First, we did the active Volcano, what an incredible sight!! This is a MUST DO, it is hard to hike and get to the crater as we realized on our first day when we did the 2mile hike. You get the lava flow, but because the lava has pushed out from the volcano’s crater so far it has cut off the easier trails and those with the best abilities can get a somewhat of a “decent view”. To get the real view and the best shots, this is the WAY TO SEE THE LAVA! Best views without mega camera shots/angles.

Note: this was our first time in the helicopter! Gudjon (our pilot) was incredible, he has a ton of experience and definitely made everyone feel safe.

Second flight - series we did the glacier / continental rift divide! Gudjon even took us to the glacier for a landing, this was great to be able to walk on the glacier & drink water without the hike. Plus, we landed on a glacier further out where no traffic goes, so it was very peaceful & truly magnificent.
Flying over the National park was also incredible to see the continental divide/rift from the air. He explained everything and we saw how extensive the rift really is… much more appreciative from the air than the ground.

I highly recommend using this group! We will definitely be back in the future and hope to do some more touring with them! Thanks from USA

I wanted to shoot for myself some of the fantastic abstract aerial images I have seen other photographers produce that are iconic to Iceland. Other photographers I’d spoken to have had to take many flights to get the lighting they wanted. Atlantsflug was very flexible for me in their scheduling. Although the weather was going to be “good” on the original day I’d set for my Custom Photo Flight, a day before the flight they allowed me to move it to another day, where the weather and lighting for photography were expected to be “great” – and indeed it was.

Before the flight, I showed my pilot (Thor) examples of the images I was interested in capturing. He did an excellent job in charting our course to put all those scenes, and more, in front of my camera, from a variety of angles.

I chartered the whole plane just for me, so I had both back seats to myself – thus I could easily switch from shooting out the opened left or right windows, as desired. My views were unobstructed by window glare, distortions, wing struts, or landing gears. Mostly I wanted to shoot straight down, and Thor accommodated me by gently banking the plane as needed. As a former pilot myself, I appreciated his skills and safety consciousness.

Thor was very knowledgeable and communicative during the flight, being sure that I was getting the images I was after. I highly recommend Atlantsflug if your objective is to get the best images possible of the spectacular, out-of-this-world aerial scenery that Iceland offers up.

My wife and I wanted to do a photography tour over the "braided rivers" that flow off the nearby glaciers into the ocean. We rented their Cessna 207 for an hour, and the pilot did an incredible job giving us many opportunities to photograph! At his suggestion, we also went by a couple of nearby glacial outlets for more photographic opportunities.
The pilot was very skilled at making sure we both had great shooting opportunities, since we were sitting on opposite sides of the aircraft. A real bonus for photographers is the opening windows that allow one to shoot without any distortion from the glass. Be aware, though, that only 3 windows open, and the best views are from the two rear seats, both of which have opening windows.

Flight to see Reykjanes eruption SW of Reykjavik by helicopter. Very smooth, safe and comfortable. Four passengers squeezed into one bench at the back, I was lucky to be the passenger up with the pilot. But all those at the back were happy too. Expensive as is everything in Iceland, but a fabulous opportunity to see a volcano in action with magma flowing from the cone in lava streams in two directions. Seeing from the air also gives a great perspective on the previous eruptions and how the geology of the peninsula is evolving. From city airport to the site, with 15 - 20 minutes over the volcano.

We had the pleasure to fly over skaftafell glacier tongues on 19.01 for around 15minutes.
It was an unforgettable experience. Welcoming reception, knowledgeable & friendly pilot, amazing flight.
Even if 15minutes doesn't sound much, it is the perfect amount of time to spend in the air for this tour.
I strongly recommend it.

We had a 30 minute private flight over the glaciers around Skaftafell which was excellent. We turned up and were airborne within 20 minutes. Everyone in the office was friendly and helpful. The pilot was great and with the window open I got some fantastic photos in brilliant sunshine. Highly recommend.

Fabulous! This experience was worth every penny, so don't hesitate. The opportunity to see an erupting volcano from the air was beyond compare. Everyone at Atlantsflug was very professional and friendly, and we felt we were in good hands at all times.

In September 2017 we booked the 75 min. tour: the Volcanic Canyon and Laki Craters. That was a very good decision. It exceeded our expectations! On departure at Bakki Airport the air was totally cloudy and not a breath of wind. We thought that it wouldn’t work out well, but our pilot promised that it would be better ‘overthere’. If that wasn’t the case, then we would get our money back. He was right. After a few minutes in the air, we flew inland and the sun came out. We couldn’t believe our eyes! My friend next to me had a completely different view than I had, we didn’t know where to look. The different landscapes kept coming, one after the other. It was very diverse. This is the best paid experience we have ever had. The next time we go to Iceland, we will book this flight again. It is totally worth it!

Furthermore, the pilot was very nice. He explained everything and the communication in advance via the e-mail was also very pleasant. The Cessna where we were in, was suitable for 6 people incl. the pilot. You can photograph and film quite good through the windows.

This trip was outstanding and worth every penny! We had a 60 minute flight over the most stunning landscape taking in the glacier, craters, waterfalls, rivers, national park and mountain ranges. Flying at just over 200 ft over the glacier was breathtaking and something we will never forget.
Our pilot Eymar was fabulous always making sure we were happy with the views and keeping us informed of all the land marks.
The plane could take 8 people and needed at least 3 to take off.
This is not the cheapest trip but one you will not be disappointed with. Iceland landscape is so dramatic and variable and this trip really shows you the diversity of the island.
The entrance to the flight seeing tour is opposite the national park entrance and there is a lot of car park spaces. This is a very well organised company and safety is paramount.
I can not praise this trip enough, enjoy.

We took a 40 minute trip with this company yesterday from Skaftafell airport. Fortunately another couple was already waiting to take a trip so we were able to make up the minimum number of passengers right away on our arrival. Friendly service and knowledgable staff. Amazing views from the plane - gave us a new perspective of the landscape and the vastness of the National Park. Highly recommended! Listen carefully to the staff commentary whilst in the air as this could be easily missed due to the background noise.
