Our guide, Daniel, was so patient with some folks in our group. I commend him on his poise as they were not so comfortable with the walking/hiking - slowed the the rest of us down but c’est la vie. The glacier was amazing. After seeing the groups of 15 people on our way back down, I really appreciated the small group. I also appreciated Daniel more after hearing one of the large group guides give instructions militantly. Would book with Melrakki again in a heartbeat.

What an amazing tour! My wife and I did this on a beautiful day in September and could not recommend it more. Frankie, our tour guide, was the best. She was so informative and nice, chatting with us along the way. She made sure everyone was keeping up and that we still made a nice pace, and she took great photos for all of us. She was so nice that she even got our email addresses to give us recommendations for the rest of our time in Iceland after. The sights on the glacier were beautiful, too! The tour was a good workout but not overly strenuous, and we made great time. I couldn't recommend this tour enough for anyone else visiting Iceland, it's a must!

An absolute must! Our guide was incredible, and he taught us so much information. He was super cognizant about how everyone was feeling, and he made sure to balance hiking with information breaks in the cold rainy weather to ensure we didn't get too cold. The small size of the group was perfect and as an added bonus, we were able to drive right up to the base of the glacier unlike other tours that had to park farther away and walk/hike 30-ish minutes to get to the base. This means we got to spend much more time on the glacier itself. We selected the afternoon tour, and the coolest part about it was that we were the only 8 people on the entire glacier at the end! Of course this might not always be the case.

This is a great experience however keep in mind that you need to be fit to thoroughly enjoy the hike. There are parts that are challenging, both going up and coming down. You definitely feel a sense of accomplishment but it’s definitely not an “easy” hike. Our group had folks with varying degrees of fitness level but the guide was excellent and paced the hike well to accommodate the entire group. I would recommend the tour — it’s quite breathtaking once you get up there.

Our guide was PHENOMENAL!!!! We would recommend this tour to anyone however, if you are super set on going inside a glacial tunnel, this tour can look a smidge misleading. Obviously (now for us…we didn’t know for sure just because we never experienced it) the ice shifts, melts, changes, etc…so a glacier cave one week can be a danger zone the next… that’s the only thing I would say we were a tiny bit disappointed about is that I am fully expected to get to go inside the ice and did not. Otherwise, it was an outstanding experience all around was wonderful, education, beautiful sites and felt very safe. Will definitely do it again.
