the boat ride takes you all the way to the edge of the tongue of the glacier as close as its safe to be so.. and you realize how massive the glacier actually is! the tour itself may be a little expensive for the value you expect... but if you are into experiencing nature from as close as possible, yet... Don't get me wrong... the lake itself is stunning and is well worth visiting, as it's quieter than the neighbouring lagoon, but save yourself 50 bucks and spend it on an experience that puts customers first. The boats were fine but the tour operator cramped in the absolute maximum capacity of the boat (12). If you're not familiar with zodiacs... More

Fantastic boat ride among the icebergs and close (enough thank you) to the glacier tongue itself. It was quiet and only two boats on the lagoon nothing like Jökulsárlón that we went to see next. Make sure to book and get there in time as they get you into warm overalls over your cloths or big warm coats. Keep your... More

The glacier itself was stunning and absolutely worth visiting. Unfortunately we were made to wait an hour for the next boat departure as the staff decided to leave early on the first expedition. If you are not normally on military precision timing do not book the first session (we were 20 minutes early and as a result left 80 minutes... More

We decided while researching our trip that we would avoid the heavily trafficked Jokulsarlon boat rides and chose Fjallsarlon instead. Glad we did. The guides fitted us out with floater jackets and life vests. You can opt for a full floater suit if you wish. It is cold out on the lagoon and the glacier (Fjalljokul) is nearby. Once our... More

We stopped off at the ice lagoon on a whim not realizing that it would end up being one of our top excursions of our trip. Its located right off the highway. We stopped for a photo op and seen that people were taking a tour of the lagoon by boat. So we went into the truck that runs the... More

I really enjoyed the lagoon boat tour, there are not so huge floating ice rocks as in Jokulsarlong Lagoon, but I find the glacier in this lagoon much more impressive. We were also very lucky to sail in a perfect morning, with blue sky, so the glacier and its crevasses were absolutely amazing. Must do activity while in Iceland

Oh, I loved this. You should not be experiencing Iceland from the interior of a car or tour bus. Sitting in the Zodiac boats you can put your hand in the water, grab a piece of ice, listen to the glacier talk, and begin to understand glaciers. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and personable, taking the time to tell you... More

This is the less touristy (until now) but more interesting of the two ice lagoons where zodiac tours are on offer: fewer people and recent parts breaking off the glacier made the visit magical - but it's also undeniably sad to see how things evolve...

I booked this tour online when I was looking at activities in Iceland because the description said it was smaller and quieter but just as beautiful. We didn't do the Jokulsarlon boat tour so I can't really compare the tours themselves, but I WILL say that Fjallsarlon doesn't even come close to Jokulsarlon for beauty. The reason for the deep...
