In summer parking a car is difficult and stressing. In BONIFACIA, Corsica you can park your vehicle at the port plenty of spaces available and take a small little train from the port to the Center of the old city, every 30 m minutes and only 15 minutes ride and 5 euro Relax, relax very good service.

Seemed a bit of a tourist trap, but was an excellent way of getting to the citadel and the rather nice restaurants at the top. Gives you a scenic drive on the way up and just a return on the way down. Good value.

The little train is quite a pleasant way to get up and down the steep hills of Bonifacio, especially with three kids in tow on a boiling hot day. We paid 20 euros for our tickets, as they gave us one child for free, randomly, it seemed. The ticket seller offered no information whatsoever and the guide on the train also only spoke French, however the ride was scenic and made me glad we weren’t walking and/or searching for a parking spot at the top. After a scorching day seeing ALL the sights, it was a nice way to get back down the hill. We waited maybe 5 minutes for the train to arrive, boarded promptly and were on our way.

The train departs from the harbour and runs up to the citadel , you can stay on the train or get off and visit the citadel and then return to the train to get back to the harbour . It is not expensive and a saves on the steep walk to the citadel, the trains run every 15mins or so

On our guided tour our guide had manage to get a train just for our group so I did not experience some of the problems that others have mentioned. This is a much more energy efficient way of travelling as the amount of steps and uphill walking you will do when you get up there is enough for any days exercise.
