We went by foot all the way up take us around 45 minutes, watching amazing view of The Big Valley where matagalpa is, betel l between beautiful mountain, we went to see the sunset. Well impressive but from the from the other side of town.
On the way back we took the turibus, he is running from the cathedral all the way to the Mirador, Was so much fun to go down with it l when you sit on the top level of the bus it's feel like you're on the roller coaster! every decent the bus took everyone was shouting, trying to avoid trees from the side of the road, was very very fun!
You can take it from the cathedral, every hour...
Was a nice afternoon

I will recomend that you take a taxi from Matagalpa to the top of this overloook, you can walk all the way up, but you will past through no very good neighborhood to walk around. Fee to get in is very cheap.

The Mirador has a 3 story steel platform that is very safe to get even higher for a terrific view of the valley. Rest Rooms a park for children, trails benches even a zip line great for beginners. The cost was 10 cordobas .35 cents. Great place to spend the morning.( less people)...

This was a very surprising find. I did not know what to expect as I have been to many miradors in Nicaragua. The road is not bad and it is a nice drive up the mountain. Although there are signs along the way, when you get to the outlook itself, there is not a sign in sight. We drove through the green gates and hoped we were not driving into someone's front yard. Once we arrived, we were surprised that the structure was so well done. The circular walkway was great for the views and the two-tiered tower really gave you perspective of the town. The cost is c5 per person and was well worth the trip up the mountain.

We walked all the way from downtown (cathedral) to the mirador. The road was so steep that one of our friend was sliding backward (it had rained for 2 days). This made our walk even more entertaining than anything. The view at the mirador was fantastic! A must do!

Nice view of city and surrounding mountains and cross. No worth an expensive trip or long walk but not much to do in town.

This is a fun side trip. Be sure to pay a driver to go up as it's a long hike back to town. stay on the paths and walkways. There is a guard, but someone was robbed off the beaten trail while we were there

We were very lucky to be driven up to this viewpoint with a local friend on a very sunny day. The view from here is much better than from Cerro Apante, as from there you are too high. From El Calvario, you can see the city in detail, but are still high up enough to see the entire city. We think it might be a little difficult to get to on your own, but we did see taxis driving up to the viewpoint. Definitely worth it though!

What an amazing find, an incredible cost-effective trip to a wonderful lookout in Matagalpa. It's only draw back is that it in not really well mark so keep asking locals how to get there. There is also a great park at the top for kids.
