Turned away because I was a foreigner. Went with my Thai family but not allowed in. But when up the road about 3km to Ambassador hotel to a great beach. Guard made sure we had a good parking spot. Nice coffee shop over looking the beach.

Went here with the whole family and where not allowed to enter by the military. So for anyone wanting to go to the beach, find somewhere else:)

We had lunch at the restaurant operated by the Royal Thai Navy. The beach is clean. The beach was crowded on Saturday. The food was acceptable.

Weird, last month went past the army no problem. Today wouldn't let me in,lived here 20 years with a wife child, business here. Luck of the draw and mood of the soldier you see there.

For the triathlon open water swim, the water was clean and access was very good because it was race supported. I've heard that this is an area prone to jelly fish infestations, but we had no such problems. The day prior to the race I was there to pick up race information and saw what the public beach areas are like: crowded, a bit worn around the edges, but a high degree of Thai families obviously enjoying their Saturday outings. Getting down there requires going through Royal Thai Navy security, which wasn't a problem but one can see how it could inhibit some access. …
