I booked this safari online from a choice of three websites as the reviews were generally good and it was the only one to advertise prices. Our driver was punctual for hotel pick up and was by far one of the better (ie safer) drivers we have experienced in SriLanka! He was also courteous and professional. We stopped just prior... More

Myself and three friends booked onto a half day safari drive at Yala National park. Having done a safari in Kenya (on the Masai Mara) I probably had unrealistic expectations going into this experience. Whilst the safaris in Africa involved roaming open plains for miles, this safari involved driving down narrow dust paths, surrounded by trees and foilage either side... More

We did two safari trips. One late in day and one early. Because there are so many jeeps you eat dust from the jeeps in front. For hour after hour. We saw a good number of animals. Many elephants. One leopard. Lots of birds. Really all the animals we expected to see. But the dust from so many jeeps. Some... More

Setting off from our hotel at 5.30 in the morning, a bit late I'd say. We arrived at Yala National Park about an hour later. We waited for our drivers to pay for our tickets. It is 9000 Rs/ $60 per person. We were very excited to see some elephants and maybe a leopard... We saw a couple of warthogs... More

What a morning we had, out of bed by 5am, on the bus to Yala National Park, then at 6am into the jeeps for a bumpy, chaotic chase around the dusty roads looking for the elusive leopard. Yes, we saw a few peacocks and some birds, but no leopards or elephants, in fact, there was more wildlife outside our hotel... More

We arrived at the park super early and were one of the first jeeps to enter the park, be prepared to bring your breakfast and an extra sweater because there is a one hour wait before the park opens at sunrise. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the park and animals and we were the only jeep that managed to... More

It's so different to Africa! The canopy hides the animals so you spend a lot of time searching on roads in the park and driving. We were lucky to see a lot of interesting animals but our driver and guide were trying. Considering the amount of jeeps they allow daily into this park, they are not catering for the basic... More

This national park is very badly organised. Anything up to 250-300 jeeps all running around looking for the elusive leopard and seeing very little. The wildlife is obviously fed up of the constant intrusion of the jeeps that they stay well away. If a leopard is spotted all the jeeps drive like madmen to get there. Some of them bump... More

My wife and I really enjoyed this safari. Our guide Thilanga was very knowledgeable and experienced. He's been doing it for over seven years. So we managed to find two leopards which we were able to watch for about 20 minutes. We were the first jeep to find the leopards so we weren't surrounded by other vehicles and could really... More
