We went to Yala National Park and it was brilliant. Great tour, excellent service for the price and the guide was so beady eyed he spotted so much which we wouldn’t have noticed!
Definitely worth doing during your time in Sri Lanka.

They picked me up in Ella in the morning and brought me all the way to Yala. I had a lovely time, saw many animals and they offered me 2 bottles of water. They also had binoculars in the jeep which was nice. Thanks!

We got the offer about the Safari via Instagram! The booking was really easy and uncomplicated!
We were picked up on time at the hotel from our driver Samira!
Samira was really kind and friendly! We had the best driver because he found the best places to see all the animals (crocodiles, leopard, elephants)! Samira made everything possible so that we were standing all the time in front position/ row to watch the animals! Thank you again Samira!
So we can highly recommend to book the safari with Imperial Safari Jeep Tour!

Normally I only write reviews if I was very satisfied, as negative reviews are usually subjective. Today I am making an exception because I do not want our experiences to have to be made by more people.
We had decided on this safari after being contacted via Instagram and the booking went very straightforward and smoothly. We received all confirmations promptly and correctly. Everything seemed professional.
We were supposed to be picked up at 4 a.m. but no one came. After our call we received a WhatsApp, with the first information that the full price is to be paid directly to the driver exclusively in cash and in local currency.
We are not picked up until 5.00 am because the driver allegedly had a problem with the car.
Not a word of apology!
At 5.00 am there was still no driver!
We were confirmed a 4 hour safari.
We received a 3 hour safari!
The safari itself was fine.
The return transport to our hotel took a full 3.5 hours instead of the normal 2.5 hours (so was the outbound journey), as the driver was intensively engaged with his TWO mobile phones (YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc...) - which did not contribute to our well-being. Change from the far left to the far right lane...just good that was hardly any traffic.
Conclusion: Finger weg!

The transfer was confirmed in writing at 04.00. Nobody came, of course. After obituaries, they lied to us about a car breakdown and said they'd be there at 5 a.m. At 05.05 we went back to bed. At 05.10 we were contacted he was there now. The completely sleepy driver who of course didn't know about a breakdown had 90 percent of the drive to do everything like whats app messages, phone calls, watch videos and watch you tube just not concentrated driving. His distraction took him 1 hour longer on his way back because he drove in serpentine lines instead of the allowed 100 kmh 70. I even filmed this guy!!
The safari driver himself was very anxious that you also see something which was then also so, however we booked and paid 4 hours and got 3. If you want to save yourself a day of vacation with a lot of hassle, avoid this organizer.

Besides daily Safari tours, this company provides pick ups and drops from/to cities.
I had two trips planned with Imperial Yala team. The first one was from Colombo airport to Yala, and the second - Yala to Mirissa.
Confirmed everything over the phone, the day before the flight again got another confirmation. After landing I found noone was at the airport... I tried to call multiple times, they didn't even bother to pick up.
After almost two hrs of waiting, I decided to go with the agency that I found at the airport, and actually got a cheaper price!
When I was already on the way, they finally responded to my msg claiming the driver is waiting for me and sent me Name card and parking ticket via WhatsApp. The name on the card was NOT my, so, to be honest, I'm not sure whether it was a mistake or made up story.
Anyway, pathetic service and definitely overpriced, I've got much more comfortable and cheaper rides and happy I didn't do Safari tour with them!

My husband and I did a full day safari with Imperial Safari after being contacted through Instagram. Their website is polished and looks like they would provide a high-end service. Everything seems like it would be professional. The WhatsApp messages were timely and we booked our safari easily and quickly. We were promised certain things (binoculars, breakfast, lunch, fruit, juice, soft drinks, water) for our all day 2 person tour for 25,000 LKR.
We don’t want to beat a dead horse and post 2 reviews (see my husbands’ below that explains, unsafe and untrained driver and lack of items promised for that price), but then the manager Pradeep sent us nasty WhatsApp messages that further demonstrates his unprofessional behaviour (see below screenshot). We feel that future customers need to get the full picture of how the manager responds after not providing multiple services that were to be included in our full price. We offered him several solutions to rectify his company’s mistakes but instead he ignored our calls to fix the issue that day, and then sends us harassing messages a day after.
Book elsewhere! We did 4 other safaris on our vacation and every other one out shined Imperial Safari tenfold.

If I could give 0 I would.
This was our 4th safari on our India - Sri Lanka trip and without a doubt the worst one. The driver was inept, and management refused to listen to our complaints.
My wife was contacted via Instagram by the company. We ultimately chose to do the safari with Imperial in lieu of the one recommended by our hotel due to good ratings and easy and prompt responses via WhatsApp. Big mistake.
The tour was 25k LKR, for a private Jeep for 2 of us; and an additional 700 for our local tour driver to join. This was comparable to other luxury safaris for Yala.
There were three major issues with the tour: (1) the safari driver; (2) preparedness; and (3) management.
1. The safari driver was incapable of getting us in proper positions for photographs (eg getting pushed out of the way by other jeeps, giving only himself vantage points, and generally not listening). Further, he went down a closed road and got the Jeep stuck for over an hour, we eventually needed another Jeep to come pull us out (see photos). Finally, he was uncommunicative. It was our tour driver (not safari driver) that pointed out animals to us.
2. We had explicitly asked if the tour would provide us with binoculars, breakfast, and soda. We were not given any of these things. Although the driver borrowed some binoculars at our morning break, we missed seeing 2 leopards in the trees because we didn’t have them in the morning. We only saw 1 more leopard on the full day safari. We also found out later that the driver told his manager he gave us breakfast, but actually pocketed the money.
3. We messaged the manager (Pradeep) after our trip explaining these issues and stated that we were not happy with the tour. We said that we would be satisfied with a major discount or a complimentary safari the next day with their best driver. The manager refused, stating we needed to pay the full amount. I tried phoning him to further explain but he consistently hung up on me. The manager eventually phoned our tour driver to confirm the story as he did not believe me. The manger offered a 2k LKR discount on our 25k LKR safari—ridiculous. (This amount was said to cover our missing breakfast).
For us we are upset because this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we genuinely thought we were splurging for the best. Bad drivers and mistakes happen, even if the driver got stuck for an hour I would not have minded—it was the ineptitude, lying and unreasonableness of it all that upset us.
Please go and enjoy this beautiful park, just do it with another company.
