Although getting to Ngapali was a bit expensive requiring a domestic flight, hanging out a few days at the relatively quiet Ngapali Beach enjoying the clear waters of Bay of Bengal. While it lacked the convenience and the selection of dining/activities of the more popular beach towns, it was nice to enjoy a beach town in peace in the middle of the busiest travel season. Despite a little bit of traffic with the fishing boats in the mornings and a few dozen boats docked on a small stretch of the beach, visitors had access to most of the 4 or 5 km beach to chill. The sand was fine with barely any pebbles stabbing the feet. The seaside seafood restaurants that dotted the beach all had similar menus and drinks at very reasonable prices. The lodging options, however, were not geared towards the budget traveler with most decent accommodations charging about 200 dollars per night during the winter break season.

Very nice beach, clean with not that many tourists. You can buy fresh fruit from ladies that are carrying it on their heads and are super friendly and nice. Or you can opt for a nice massage with plenty of places to choose from, again very nice people run these places. Plus the sea is clean and refreshing. Everything feels very local and authentic and I would recommend this beach to anyone who is interested.

The beaches are lovely, not much more, though. If you like dossing on a beach all day, then this is hard to beat. This time of the year (Jan/Feb), the weather is near perfect. Restaurants are mostly very quiet. If you want nightlife, forget it. Hire an e-scooter or bicycle for something different. There are a few day trips.

A very beautiful beach with excellent sunsets.
The water is warm in February and quite clear too. It's not very busy either and there's areas where it is quiet and peaceful.
There is very little litter which is excellent for Myanmar standards and there seems to be hardly any dogs on the beach.
There's also lots of down to earth bars and restaurants to chose from which line the beach and also the road adjacent to it.

Oldest beach and most developed beach of Myanmar. Because of the function as main tourist attraction site and relatively expensive for locals, beach is not congested and keep as clean and quiet. But other facilities like good restaurants and 5 stars hotels with standard services are there. A beachside golf club is there passing through mangrove trees at one green is interesting.

The cool wind blows in the afternoon and brings up the waves. We chose to go on a snorkeling trip in the morning when the waves are calm. The beach is empty and the vendors are set up to offer you a cool drink or a meal. Heaven!

A lovely long stretch of almost but not quite white sand beach. There are hotels on the beach front but fortunately the high rise variety have not arrived here so,whilst covering a large stretch of the beach front, they are mostly not at all obvious. There are also not many sunbeds along the beach. In front of the large hotels yes, but usually just one line. And with just one beach bar at the southern end and three towards the northern end two kilometres away its not got a club 18-30 drinking atmosphere. In fact it is just a very pretty beach, clean, no parasailing, no banana boats. Hard sand at the waters edge so great for walking, warm sea and not too rough waves.

After a week of touring around the sites of Myanmar, quality beach time at the stunning Ngapali Beach was a perfect way to end our time in Myanmar. This has to be one of the nicest beaches we have seen in a while on our travels, with soft sand and clear blueish green waters loaded with lots of colorful fish. There is loads to do and see, and we spent most of our time enjoying the sun, eating fresh seafood and exploring the underwater life. For anyone traveling to Myanmar, Ngapali Beach is a place that should not be missed!

Don't expect some tourist beaches in Asia like Phuket and Langkawi. There are not many shops and choices of restaurants. But, if you prefer quiet beach and just being laid back. It is really a perfect place. The sunset view and morning walk with no people on the beach are so precious. You can also join a daily/ a half-day tour of snorkeling and sightseeing etc. arranged by the agent.

Hello
We stayed at the Thandwe beach resort in May 2019 but have stayed numerous times at Bayview , Silver Beach ( beach front bungalows ) and the Aureum Hotel during our regular pilgrimage to Ngapali .There are many hotels in the area - some have rocky areas on the beach front or beach restaurants. It is seldom overcrowded even when considered to be peak season .You might wish to choose a hotel within a short walk of some shops or restaurants perhaps.

We 'd like to travel Myanmar for 2 months (July & August), is it easy to expand our visa in Ngapali?
Written May 13, 2019
No
Most hotels are closed down and boarded up for the monsoon-the same that devastates Bangladesh.
and
You cannot "extend your Visa. You have to leave after 28 days (perhaps to Bangkok) and get another evisa

What is Ngapali like in early June?
Written May 9, 2019
Hi,in Myanmar for a trip in September-October,I’m trying to understand if staying the last week of my trip (the second week of October) in Nagapali resort like Hilton.my question is about the things to do around the hotel and in the beach.does it have massage shops ,local food and markets like you see in Thailand islands?
Written May 3, 2019
Ngapali is much better than Thailand for people, who like quiet beaches, and still unspoilt by tourism places. There are a few good local restaurants, and quite nice little town Thandwe with nice local market, and nice Pagodas with wonderful view. The hotels have busses, organizing tours for quests. Most hotels have massage and spa. But dont expect the usual "thai attractions" :D

Hi, I will be visiting Ngapali Beach in early November. Strangely, I can book a flight from Yangon into Thandwe, but I can't seem to find any flights towards Inle Lake (Heho) or Bagan (Nyaung U)... I've read on the forum that Air KBZ flies these routes frequently but I can't seem to get a flight. Is there a land option and how do I go about booking them? Thank you!
Written October 4, 2018
Try Buffalo Tours for your flights, they may advise on land transport as well, however I think the land option would be very adventurous and long. Most flights between major tourist areas are only 1 hour anyway. Good luck.
