Stunning route there, pool itself underwhelming
I chose to cycle out from Vang Vieng. Its a 15-20km-ish ride, staring on sealed road for the first 7km or so then dirt track which gradually deteriorates the closer you get. Whilst a little testing on the backside, the poor road conditions make for a pretty quiet thoroughfare with stunning views on all sides. Unfortunately the destination itself didn't live up to the reviews I'd read... Arriving at around 12:30 the entire site was already in full shade from the adjacent peak and to be honest, didn't entice enough (viewed from the bike parking lot) to even bother to pay the entrance fee... The smallish, uniform pool with a few swings and a zip wire held little allure when in shadow. I decided instead to press on to Blue Lagoon 2, which in my opinion was much nicer in every way: several pools, great views around, in sunlight but with shade cover if desired, food options and generally more ambiance.

Might be better on a clear sunny day
Our visit to the Blue Lagoon (Lagoon 4) was on a dull overcast day and after a period of rain so the lagoon was more green than blue but still worth a look, not on the tourist trail like the 3 other lagoons it’s quieter and if you arrive early you could have the place to yourselves for a while. The water is cold and refreshing, there is a rope swing and flying fox for entertainment, shelter and toilets. The roads near the lagoon were a bit dodgy. There is a village / bridge toll of 20,000 kip per vehicle and a lagoon entrance fee of 20,000 kip per person. We arranged private transport for the 45 minute drive each way but others arrived on scooters. In August there were lots of beautiful butterflies around the area and some great terraced rice paddies on the drive from town.

    Worth the visit!
Really enjoyed it here - blue lagoon 3 you could jump off the platform into the water, swing off the rope swings, get in a rubber ring, float on a raft or kayak. You have a restaurant onsite for food and drinks. Entry is 10,000 per person but free parking. There is a cave and a hike up to a view point and also free platformed and tabled areas to relax

    Jurassic Park meets waterworld
This place is so cool. I first went to Blue Lagoon 1 and it was packed. I guess that's because it's the closest to town. The vibe at Number 3 was so much more chill with maybe only a total of 50 people there. There is a diving platform, a rope swing, a zip line and a balance beam for you to have fun in the water. You can paddle the bamboo pontoons around or laze in a tube with a beer. Everybody there was in a super good fun mood, and when people did somersaults or tricks off the equipment they got cheers and scores along with the people that fell spectacularly getting cheers and laughs.

Refreshing lagoon within a amazing scenery
More than 30 minutes outside of Vang Vieng this lagoon is set deep inside the limestone peaks which itself is a amazing scenery. The lagoon has clear and cool water so it is really refreshing on a normal day. There are also some very funny activities to do like a zip line to jump into the water. Compared to the other blue lagoons it is the most beautiful one and also less crowed. All in all it is perfect for a half day trip and can easily be combined with the Nam Xay viewpoint.

    One of the nicer lagoons
After visiting some of the other lagoons, this is one of the nicer ones and definitely doesn’t get as crowded as for example number 1. The road is a bit sketchy in getting there on a scooter but it’s definitely doable as we did it. Entry is 10,000 and you can sit in rubber rings, use the rope swing and zip line until your heart is content. Sun shines on the lagoon for most of the day including morning and afternoon.

    Do your research
Do your research before going. We arrived mid June 2023 and we’re highly disappointed. The water goes murky and greenish brown in the rainy season. I also felt as if the areas surrounding it have not been protected enough from tourism and there is a less relaxing more tacky feel at these lagoons than other places we have visited in Laos

    Best lagoon in the area
We went to both Blue Lagoon 3 and 1. Number 3 is our favorite - but we recommend to come early. We arrived around 4pm and at that time the sun is behind the rocks/mountain. My guess: the sun is gone after 2pm, but I’m not sure about this. About the place: you can buy food and drinks, there is a toilet and there are tables. The water is warm, even in winter. And this lagoon has amazing swings!

    Great spot
We took a buggy and toured the countryside to get there. Not the best of tracks, but worth the experience. Cheap entry fee, for the facility. It’s a fun spot. It was uncrowded and a pleasurable way to spend a couple of hours.

    The best Blue Lagoon
A good hours drive out of the city. Would reccomend going by buggy as we tried on moped and it was very uncomfortable. Buggy was so much fun and worth the money though!! (Be prepared to get covered in dust though). Very relaxing and calm in comparison to other Lagoons. Theres a swing rope, small zip line, lots of rings and an inflatable raft. Spent about an hour here and loved it. It is in the shade as it's right by a massive hill though.

... would love to be discreet about this place but if someone can have a better time like us then why not :-)
This lagoon is way less crowded and much more beautiful than blue lagoon 1. Group tours and tuk tuk etc are not mentioning or taking people here because its an hour away/8 kms by bike from Blue Lagoon 1 (which I find too crowded and commercial). They have zip line , bamboo boats, tubes. They charge a nominal fee on 10000 kip, there is a bar which serves drinks and food - they also had a fire place when we went there in Feb. Life jacket is provided on request.
Note:-
- This is not a paved road hence 8 kms may take 30 minutes to an hour.
- Very scenic route and you can also catch a glimpse of sun set whilst returning.
- You get to see local life away from Vang Vieng center.
- There is also cave close to this lagoon (I forget the name).
- They have toilet and changing rooms.
- carry flip flops (if you are wearing shoes) because the stones there might hurt.
- not suitable for people with back problem or who have issues with biking on unpaved track.

How to get there? someone has written a blog if you google Blue Lagoon 3 and it is quite descriptive and well composed.

Went out to this spot by buggy. Went early to beat the convoys of buggies heading out for the day. We were able to enjoy the beauty of the place and crystal clear water before the hoards arrived.
