Established in 2013. At Rock Odysseys, we specialize in Big Adventure Rock Trips including Climbing, Canyoneering/Rappelling, and Combo Trips; as well as an exclusive Kids' Program, The Rock Hoppers. We pick you up at your hotel or designated meeting location and outfit you onsite. As a small company focused on customer service and quality, rather than quantity, we employ only a few of the best climbers and guides in the area. Our hope is to empower and inspire every participant regardless of range of abilities, age, gender, background or experience levels.

This was my splurge activity on this trip. I have always wanted to try rappelling but wanted to actually get out there and do it, not spend an hour listening to a lecture and get one rappel in.
Mark was our guide and he was fantastic! Gave us the basic info we needed to rappel safely and focused on building our confidence after that. As he said, you learn the most by actually doing it. The fact that we are attached to a safety line so that we can learn on our own while still actually being safe is a great learning environment. The helmet and gloves also help keep you safe! My mom slipped up against the rock during part of her first rappel and was totally fine because she was well protected.
During one part of our excursion, there was one rappel that was just a little too daunting for my mom and Mark had no problem just finding us a different one. He never made anyone feel shame for having fear and found us different rappels that were a little more approachable and helped build our confidence. By the end we were both smiling so much our cheeks hurt.
My mom had a bit of a sore knee (we had done a lot of hiking the couple days before) and Mark made sure to offer support in parts of the hike/rock scramble so that she could do it comfortably.
We kept moving along and did FIVE rappels in our half day trip! We witnessed other guide companies out in the same area and it seemed like they spent more time lecturing their guests than actually doing the activity for which the guests were paying. I understand teaching safety, but at some point you just have to try it to learn how to do it correctly.
I would 100% come back and rappel again with Mark and recommend this activity to anyone who wants to experience not only rappelling, but the beautiful areas that you can ONLY see on this kind of adventure!

We had an excellent experience canyoneering with Amanda. She was very professional and knowledgeable and made the trip fun even with wet and snowy conditions. Me and my 12 year old son had a great time rappelling and exploring the slot canyons. Be prepared for a little bit of a hike up and wear waterproof footwear if able. Would definitely go again.

My girl friends and I spent a full day canyoneering with Rock Odyssey. We had a fantastic time exploring a beautiful canyon away from crowds and learning repelling techniques. It is hard to put into word how much fun we had hiking in, "superwomaning" into a slot canyon, and repelling down sheer walls. Our guide, Sunny, was a wonderful combination of calm, competent, knowledgeable, encouraging and funny which made our adventure all the more wonderful. He handled our different levels of nervousness and excitement for the first repel in a patient and reassuring manner, allowing the most anxious of our group to conquer their fears with a smile. I would highly recommend this day trip as the memories from it will put a smile on your face for years to come.

My boyfriend and I have gotteninto (indoor) climbing over the past year and decided to try outdoor climbing as well.I had some previous experience but my boyfriend did not. We met up with Matt who was super helpful and we were able to do quite a bit in the shorter, half-day period. Everything felt very safe and the location was amazing - not super crowded and beautiful views. Would totally come back again another time.

From start to finish, Rock Odyssey had great customer service and was easy to work with. I was able to ask all the questions, and Gabby was super patient with me over the phone while booking. There was great communication via texting prior to our reservation Tuesday morning. Our guide Dion pick is right up from our VRBO in Springdale and drove us to and from our trail head. We had an all day canyoneering trip out of water Canyon. Overall everything was superb and super professional! Dion drove us through the Smithsonian drive to end our day trip with great views. Our guide definitely made me feel at ease as there was some nervousness- we would highly recommend them.

This is a must when visiting Zion! Rock Odyssey’s worked with us at every step, even though they were fully booked during this busy season they worked with us to make it work. Marley are guide was outstanding! He is extremely knowledgeable and kind. He made us feel safe at all times and made sure we had an amazing time. Best guide ever! I would high recommend climbing with Rock Odyssey’s and Marley you will not be disappointed.

We booked a half day canyoneering trip with our (pre)teenage children ages 14 and 12. Our guide Gabby was amazing at coordinating our event, especially since we were staying in the park. She graciously met us outside the park. She was very enthusiastic , very encouraging and helpful to our young, anxious children. It was an Wonderful introduction to canyoneering for our family. If you are visiting Zion National Park, RockOdysseys is a perfect addition to your trip.

Our family went on a canyoneering adventure with Dion. From the beginning this experience was excellent. When i booked the adventure, he explained all of the available equipment and the plan for the day. He texted me the day before and the morning of with instructions and then picked us up at our hotel. When we reached the top of the rocks, he explained the proper rappelling technique and his safety precautions. We were impressed with his knowledge, not only of knots and canyoneering but also of the geology of the area. We appreciated the extra time he took with the more apprehensive members of our group. He never seemed annoyed that he needed to repeatedly reassure me ,,, um er members of the group…that he was holding on tight to the rope. Oh he also taught us features on our camera phones to take the best pictures.
This adventure was the highlight of the trip. Rock odyssey is an organized and knowledgeable company and we had a terrific guide.

Let me start off by saying that I always do a lot of research when planning trips and since we were traveling to Zion for Easter holiday, I wanted to make sure that I picked the best canyoneering experience for my teenage (13 y/o) son and me. Ultimately, I was torn between Rock Odysseys and another local company, however, the amount of AWESOME reviews regarding Rock Odysseys guides with kids made them #1 on my list and I'm sooooooo happy that I made that choice!
So, now for the actual review of our experience :)
Josh was our guide and I can't even begin to say enough wonderful things about him. It started with great communication the evening before with confirming our meetup location for the next day. Just a heads up to future adventurers- if you're staying at the Zion Lodge, you will have to meet your guide off of property but honestly, it's no big deal and you will actually get more time exploring this way as well.
Josh was prompt to our meetup location and did a great time explaining to us and educating my son and me about the different structures and the ecosystems that existed on the way to Lamb's Knoll. Once we got to the parking area, Josh got us fitted for our harnesses, helmets and gloves. We started our discussion there about safety while climbing, hiking and canyoneering and I truly appreciated his genuine concern and explanation of it throughout the experience. My son had never done anything like this and it was only my second time but Josh did an amazing job making us both feel comfortable, safe and secure while giving us the tools/skills to have fun and push past our fears.
On the first rappel, my son was terrified to go down and I actually ended up going first then so that he could see that it was ok and safe. By the second canyon, he was begging for a full day experience!! Josh talked about his own climbing and hiking adventures so the entire rest of our trip in Zion, my son was climbing on every rock that he could find...I guess we found his new love!
I would not hesitate to book with Rock Odysseys again and actually, we hope to book a full day with Josh after he gets back from his own personal trip. The experience was so wonderful and Josh did such a great job with coaching my son during his rappels.
I should also add that the pricing was comparable to other local companies for us, this adventurous experience was well worth the price! If you are torn between multiple companies or unsure about a canyoneering experience- book with Rock Odysseys- you will not be disappointed!!!

Our family of 5 (kids 13,16,19) spent a half day canyoneering with Matt and had a fantastic time! He picked us up at Under Canvas on time and we drove a short distance to the climbing/rappelling area. Matt did a great job managing the fear of some of us, encouraging and patiently guiding us. Not one moment did we feel unsafe or underprepared. We were able to rappel up to 100 ft on our final attempt which was amazing. The views were spectacular as was our guide! I would recommend Matt and Rock Odyssey for anyone, any ability and any family.
