The trail starts out wide and paved. But there is an incline as it winds around. I kept stopping to remove layers. It can be tiring. Maybe that goes for about a mile? It then becomes rock steps. Not perfectly formed steps so you have to be cautious as you walk. They get a little more tricky the higher you... More

Very popular trail that is paved and steep until it becomes stairs. This hike is work even for people who are really fit. We went up the stairs and then took the winter route down (2.3 miles additional) to avoid vertigo and save our knees.

Challenging enough for the best hikers, but often forgiving. Even in October, we had a little mist and a view of the falls. Mist Trail goes all the way to Half Dome if you like.

Thank goodness for the fabulous views along the way and the breathtaking view at the top - it almost made me forget that I am really out of shape...it was worth the little aches and pains to see this wonderful spot!

Rigorous. Calves hurt the next day. But the views are beautiful. Bring water and a camera for beautiful photo opportunities!!

Challenging, longer day hike. Pack a lunch and expect to be out for at least 5 hours. Trail leads to 2 different waterfalls and if you make it to the second (Nevada Falls), you can make it a loop trail by taking the John Muir Trail back down to the valley.

I routinely do a 3-4 mile walk at the park multiple days a week. I don't know if it was the elevation or what but this hike was a butt-kicker. I stopped at the level where the cascade hits the pool, a very pleasant spot. Our friends went to the top in about 10 min. The steps are doable but... More

the views were great - i was happily surprised that the falls still were running as I figured they would be dry. However, it wasn't as "misty" as it would be if they were running full force. One thing - wear good hiking boots and bring your poles - the steps are very slippery and steep. You might consider taking... More

A 10 mile (and 2000ft height gain) walk from the parking at Curry Village all the way to the top of the Nevada falls. First part is pretty doable since it's an asphalt walk up to the first bridge. From there, expect a steep stairs-like rockclimb up to the top of the Vernal Falls. From there a pretty easy foresthike,... More
