My 14 year-old son and I just completed the 6-day backpacking trip from Tuolumne to Yosemite Valley (including a trip up Half Dome) with Lasting Adventures. We highly recommend both Lasting Adventures and this trip which is listed as one of their 'Guide's Choice' on their web site.

Booking the trip was straightforward on LA's website. They have several trips to choose from but they clearly spell out the itinerary (with trail maps and routes) to help you decide. LA also did a great job communicating with us leading up to the trip providing a detailed equipment list, required forms and permits needed to get into the park, etc. They were also very responsive to all questions always responding within a couple of hours.

Our guide Nicole was phenomenal. She took great care of us. Without her, we no doubt would have gotten lost in the first hour, then starved, suffered dehydration and gotten sick from exposure. In all seriousness, the meals she prepared were unbelievable whether it was the pad thai, tortellini with pesto sauce, blueberry/chocolate chip pancakes, etc. She also showed us some great spots along the trail.

On day 1, we met at 4 PM at the main parking lot in Curry Village where they provided and went over all the equipment (backpack, tent, sleeping bag, etc.). They will provide everything you need except your own personal items clothing. We then spent the first night in the Curry Village backpacker's camp in the valley.

The next morning we went by shuttle to the Tuolumne visitor center to embark on our 37+ mile journey. While that sounds like a long way, if you are reasonably fit (I'm in my early 50s), you should be able to handle it. The reward is some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see with numerous glacier carved mountains, waterfalls and alpine lakes. Of course, the pinnacle of the trip is the opportunity to go to the top of Half Dome.

While not a relaxing vacation by any means, this was an adventure we will never forget!

Thank you so much for the thorough review! We really appreciate the feedback, and use it to constantly improve. We're thrilled that you found our admin staff accommodating, and we agree Nicole is a phenomenal guide (one of the best in the park!). We hope to have you back for another adventure someday soon!

We took 2 trips with lasting adventures. We were a party of 9 with 2 families. The first tour we had 2 guides Bella and Trey. They were extremely knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour. They kept everyone entertained from our 12 year old to young adults and older adults. The pace was just perfect with enough breaks. I would highly recommend this trip to families who are exploring Yosemite for the first time.
Second day we took a hike to glacier point and surrounding areas. One of our family member had an asthma attack making us arrive late to our meeting point. Zac was extremely patient and cooperative. He took us to all the highlights with plenty of time for photos and info about the sites. It was an unforgettable experience to view all these sites from top of valley. Would highly recommend this tour to families.

It was very easy to navigate the website to search for different hikes. If I had any questions, Scott quickly responded and did a great job guiding (pun intended) me on which hikes were available.

I did a solo day hike to Clouds Rest.

My guide, Emily, was excellent! Her knowledge of the history of the park and surrounding area was impressive. She also gave lots of information on the wildlife and plants in the park, which added to the overall experience. Emily adjusted my backpack to make it fit correctly because I had no idea it was not fitted correctly which made a big difference in how it felt. I had a couple of minor injuries along the way and Emily was extremely helpful. She went out of her way to make sure my entire experience from start to finish went great. Whatever Emily is getting paid is NOT enough.

I would highly recommend anyone use Lasting Adventures for their guided tours.

I did the guided 3-day yoga and backpacking retreat at May Lake/amount Hoffman in Yosemite and it was AMAZING. The location was so beautiful and serine, and not far enough to scare off an absolute backpacking beginner like me! I kinda pinched myself several times to make sure it was all real.

The yoga instructor Britta was fabulous. She had amazing insight, knowledge, and overall her “do what your body tells you” guidance approach to yoga was above and beyond what I expected. She’s also just such a warm and encouraging person, which helped me engage spiritually and openly in every practice. Also, I loved that she guided us how to use yoga in our hikes and various activities throughout the day (like breathing technique and TOE YOGA!)

The guide Dawson was so chill, knowledgeable and an ASTONISHING cook! I went in expecting to eat nothing but berries and raw avocado, but he made delicious meals I’d gladly eat any day anywhere (like vegan French toast with berries, chia seeds and syrup…never would have thought that was do-able on a backpacking trip!). His mellow and trustworthy demeanor made everything feel so effortless and eased so much anxiety I had going into the whole thing.

Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime in such a beautiful place. I made new friends, I saw new things, I never felt judgement, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

We saw the excellent reviews for Lasting Adventures and decided the best way to experience Yosemite was with a knowledgeable guide. It was the right decision. We got great service before we arrived and during the hikes. Lasting Adventures helped with understanding where to stay, reservations, equipment, parking and what to expect. Both guides were excellent and is is clear that lasting Adventures has a solid training program. They were knowledgeable about Park history, attractions, flora and fauna and shared lots of fun anecdotes. We would have never been able to duplicate the experience on our own!

My almost 14 yo son just returned from the 6-Day youth High Country Adventure. I could tell the moment I picked him up he was more confident than the kid I dropped off. He described the week in his own words as “amazing”. He also said it was “hard” but in a good way and that he learned he was tougher than he thought he was.
The lasting adventures team are clearly experts at what they do and it gives the kids the opportunity to bond be independent make decisions learn from each other.
My son has been back for 24 hours and has already asked to return next summer. He has already been telling all of his friends who are all now asking me to send information to their parents. So the trip is just that good.
I am incredibly grateful to lasting adventures for this experience and can’t wait for more.

This was my fifth guided backpacking trip in the wilderness and by far the best. It's all about the guides and Halle and Felicity were perfect: competent, easy to work with, smart and trustworthy. They set a perfect pace and didn't "over teach" as some guides do. And the food! Pretty crazy that we could eat so well in the wilderness!

This was also a yoga retreat and that part was transformative. Our yoga guide, Britta, was a down-to-earth compassionate teacher who led us on our inner journey. I couldn't have asked for a better long weekend.

What a awesome experience we had with Lasting adventures! Cara, our guide was absolutely fantastic. She ensured at every step the whole group were happy and comfortable. She was incredibly informative with the history of the park, the terrain, plants and animals. She kept us entertained with quizzes and was wonderfully sociable. She is also the most amazing cook! We ate like kings out there in the wilderness, all on 2 small camp Gas burners, that’s a serious skill!!!
I can highly recommend this company for a unforgettable hike in the truly stunning Yosemite park. We will be back!

I just completed a 4 day Yosemite wilderness backpacking trip with a summit of Half Dome via the infamous cables. Thanks to the professional staff at Wilderness Adventures and my amazing guide, John, I would consider this among my favorite " trips of a lifetime". Having summited Kili and completed the Everest Base Camp trek, this is quite a compliment.
A lot of the credit goes to my guide, John. He did everything he could to make our trek as memorable as possible, from helping us pack our heavy backpacks, setting up our camp including our tents, cooking us a hot meal at night, making sure our water bottles were always filled with filtered water from the river to planning a sunset hot dinner with secret desert on the summit of Half Dome.
He also made the hours hiking and climbing pass more quickly with his wealth of information about Yosemite Valley, its flora and fauna, and the characters who have inhabited it in the past and present. There was not a single question that he could not answer thoroughly and entertainingly.
An added benefit, he is a big wall rock climber!
He shared many interesting stories about the history of the community and technical climbing. Also felt much more confident in his ability to get us up and down Half Dome.
So if you are looking to add Half Dome to your bucket list, l highly recommend Lasting Adventures and John, my guide.

We had an awesome day on Half Dome with our guide, Zach. He was professional, attentive, and gave us great tips on how to climb up and down the cables. The hike was so much better having an expert along, and he made sure we were always well hydrated and nourished. Zach also told us interesting facts about Yosemite, the climbers, and the flora and fauna. He was the perfect guide, and it definitely was a memorable, successful hike because of him. Highly recommend Lasting Adventures for any Yosemite hikes.
