The chapel is an iconic and famous scene of Yosemite. The building is a charming wooden chapel with a dramatic setting with woods an the granite cliffs of Yosemite Valley. It was closed when we were there and seems like it's only open for services, but I am not sure. It's easily seen on a walk along the Valley Loop or Cooks Meadow, or from the village or Ahwahnee or the Lodge since it's right on the Valley Loop Trail and next to parking.

There seemed to be a sermon in progress when I visited so I didn't want to go in and disturb anyone, however it is a nice little chapel. Before you go in there is an area where there are postcards and you can leave money or a donation for the postcards. I got a few of them. The pictures and views of the chapel with the mountains in the background are great.

The Yosemite Valley Chapel is historic landmark building located in the middle of the valley. This is a wooden chapel built in Carpenter Gothic style in the late 19th century.

The chapel is an attractive little building situated amidst the trees and peaks around the valley. The exterior is quaint, while the interior is simple with a handful of pews, alter and simple wall decor.

Note that this is an active church with regular services. Check their website for service schedule details if you are looking for a place of worship during your time in the valley.

The oldest building in the valley and very pretty from the outside, but unremarkable on the inside. I expected to find wonderful views of the valley and landmarks from the chapel, but no dice.

Located just off the right of Southside Drive as you drive toward Half Dome Village. Can’t miss it.

I had never noticed this quaint chapel on previous visits to Yosemite so this time when I did see it I made sure to stop and take some pictures. This small chapel must have the most wonderful location of any house of worship in the USA as it sits in the shadow of Yosemite's awesome granite cliffs,it would probably make a wonderful choice for a wedding ceremony.
Definitely worth a stop for some pics and maybe a bit of quiet meditation or prayer.

We have gone to both services and also a very nice wedding at Yosemite Valley Chapel. Its a historic church in the valley floor area of Yosemite National Park.

The chapel was built originally in 1879. It is a New England Style church architecture.

It was started under the sponsorship of the California State Sunday School Association.

The church was originally located by the Four Mile Trail Area until it was relocated to its current location in Yosemite National Park.

Visiting Yosemite Valley Chapel with my family was truly a memorable experience. Built in 1879, this charming and historic chapel stands as the oldest structure in Yosemite National Park, providing a unique glimpse into the park's rich history.

Nestled among towering granite cliffs and lush meadows, the chapel's serene and spiritual atmosphere offers a peaceful retreat. Whether attending a service or simply soaking in the beauty, it provides a tranquil contrast to the grandeur of the surrounding landscape.

This is a beautiful church in an idyllic setting. The inside is only accessible during services, but it is a worthwhile stop on your circuit through Yosemite Valley.

when you take picture of the chapel, the background of it is just a rock mountain, with some tress, but you can't see any special features, you can see the Yosemite falls, but on the other side, not the same side as the chapel, so you can either take picture of the chapel or take picture of the fall, can't take them together in one single photo. And for this church, it's a real church, I mean still functioning as a church, it has Sunday service on Sunday, (or some other time, you may check with it's website), it only opens when it has worship, otherwise it will be closed and you cannot enter the church for visit.
