Enjoy the beauty of Sea Kayaking in Yellowstone by getting off the beaten path, on a single or multi-day backcountry sea kayak tour. For over 20 years we have been showing our guests the absolute best way to experience the natural wonders of Yellowstone National Park by kayaking away from the crowds on Yellowstone Lake or Lewis and Shoshone Lakes. Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is America’s first national park, and one of the best inland paddling destinations in the world. The clear water and high mountain lakes of the greater Yellowstone area provide a truly unique kayaking experience. Yellowstone is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and elk. Preserved within Yellowstone is the largest concentration of active geysers in the world – approximately half of the world’s total.Paddling away from the crowds you will see a side of Yellowstone few ever do.

kayaking on yellowstone lake

it was a great alternative perspective of the geysers and hot springs in the basin. While the west thumb basin is not the most active in yellowstone this view greatly enhances it.

You really must see Yellowstone from this vantage point. Get away from the elbows and tripods on the boardwalks and let Tyler or Laura take you out to the quiet and the cool of the water. Supremely knowledgable, respectful of the place, and genuinely interested in educating us - the guides are stellar. This was absolutely the highlight of our... More

We went on the kayak tour with our guides Laura and Tyler who were both wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the park, the wildlife and the thermal attractions. We saw elks which wondered close to us while we watched at a safe distance. Thank you for one of the most fun activities at Yellowstone National Park.

After two days of walking the boardwalks at Yellowstone, it was fabulous to get out on the lake and observe the thermal features and geysers from the water. We had a beautiful picnic lunch on a beach, where elk walked by just a few feet away. Guides Laura and Ty were terrific. We managed the half day paddle with our... More

This was a lot of fun. Laura and Brian were our guides and were very entertaining. Even daring us to jump into the cold waters of Jackson Lake (which our kids took on the dare). There was some harder paddling when the wind was in your face, but going around the geysers was easy going and cool. We had a... More

Had an awesome time out on the lake with Brian and Peter. Saw many different birds, an elk and a meerkat while paddling along with a bunch of geysers and hot springs. Angry Geyser actually went off as soon as we paddled up which was cool as well. The paddle back while the sun was setting felt like I was... More

We were a group of 11 from Ohio. Our ages ranged from 5 years old to 69 years old and most of us did not have any camping or kayaking experience. We decided to book this trip as a vacation that was different from our usual water skiing or beach vacation. We were all a little nervous but Steve (the... More

Signed up with my 13-year old daughter for the all-day sea kayaking trip on Lake Yellowstone. Had a fantastic guide, who was knowledgeable and professional, while being wonderfully personable to boot. The perfect combination. I loved how he moved himself around the different "sub-groups" in our overall group, spending time with each. I also like how he explained to us... More

My son and I had a wonderful time paddling from Grant Village Marina up to the West Thumb geothermal area last Wednesday evening. Our guide, Brian, was instructive, knowledgeable and super nice. Equipment was top-notch and in good condition. It was a very cool way to see the area (without the crowds!) and the geyser even performed for us .... More
