Steep climb but a nice place to see a waterfall
Oct 2020
This location has two pullouts just to the north side of the bridge. The walkway is to the east side. The first part is gradual and less than 1000 yards. That will take you to where you can see the top of the falls. If you take the other path you have two choices. One is gradual and the other is steep with no steps. Both will give you good views but the steep path gives the best views. Also, I was told, that you can see crawfish hidden among the rocks at the bottom of the steep climb. I did not see any but I did not look very hard since I was enjoying the great waterfall view. Enjoy

Isolated little pull-off near the South Gate; worth a stop!
Jul 2020
It took us four visits to Yellowstone over five years before we finally stumbled across this little gem near the southern entrance to the park. This year we specifically tried to find places away from the crowds, and this quick stop hit the mark. There are many beautiful waterfalls in the park, but this one has a short path to see the falls from the top or a walk down to see it from the bottom. The nearby bridge for the main road is also pretty. We had the area all to ourselves for about 20 minutes, and we enjoyed taking it all in without the crowds.

Easily missed

There are so many famous attractions in the park, if you don’t have multiple days in it you pretty much have to drive past this one. But over time it’s a joy to enjoy little appreciated gems like this one.

Beautiful

This was my first stop after entering Yellowstone. After a walk down a short trail to the falls, it was so amazing. A great start to the morning.

Worth to take a look if you are passing by
Jul 2018 • Family
it's near the South entrance, there is a short easy trail leading to the falls, you can see the whole falls, it's not a big one, but still can feel it's power, if you are passing by, why not just stop by and take a look of it?

It's the little things

Moose Falls is not the largest waterfall you will see in Yellowstone. It's not the longest. It's not the fastest.

However, Moose Falls is also generally not crowded. It's just steps from the pullout off the highway near the south entrance. It does have a beautiful stone bridge behind it, and you can be near both the top and bottom of the falls in just steps. And, the mist from the spray is particularly visible when you're there in the morning, and the sun is streaming through the surrounding woods.

Humans are fascinated with water, and waterfalls, and mountains. It doesn't matter how big the waterfall, we all like them. And there's nothing to not like about Moose Falls.

Nice falls

This is one of the first stops in Yellowstone on the way up from the Grand Tetons. It's an easy walk from the parking lot to the falls. Not a lot of time is needed but worth the stop. Bring a tripod and a neutral density filter and try a time exposure.

There is no sign for the falls- don’t miss it!
Aug 2018
Just inside the south entrance there is a sign that just says Moose. This is the pull out for the falls, not room for many cars. The short trail takes you to the falls and down to the water edge. Very pretty, easy to get to.
