We started this little drive with great anticipation. However several vehicles pulled off the road, although no "off" the road like we are asked to do as part of the YNP rules. Many people unloaded and reloaded from the cars. We tried to park to get some views. Frankly, because of the activity, we were unable to experience what I... More

The Firehole River was an amazing 2 mile one way auto trail that had you driving along the River with spectacle views. One on two swimming areas were within this drive and restroom near swimming. There were a few out swimming and jumping off short cliffs in the water. I didn’t swim, the ride was worth it as it was... More

Depending on the direction you are going you will either have to double back at the end of this detour or can continue on your way. It is a one way only road but so worth the drive.

This is a short, one way road off the Grand Loop Road. It's just South of Madison Junction, so be ready. This is one of those one way roads in Yellowstone that give you a more intimate view of a specific area. This ones focus is on Firehole Canyon. It's a narrow road as others have stated. It also has... More

This is a great first thing to do inside the park to get the feel of being alone in a great place, watch for the falls and tell the driver to keep his eyes on the road, look for a few pull outs on the right, and watch for really great geology all over the place. FunTimes.

This is a simply beautiful one way drive with turnouts, especially on sunny clear days. Worth the time to stop and enjoy and listen to the Firehole river.

We arrived just as Old Faithful spouted, and so our teenagers insisted we had to wait the 1 3/4 hour interval until it percolated ready to spout again. (Perhaps that's why the Visitor Centre here is one of the better ones?). We were just 4 of approx 1,500 people viewing OF that morning. I'm not much of a tick-boxer however... More

this is a beautiful drive with the Firehole Falls along the way and during the summer there is a swimming hole where you can swim in the Firehole river.
