I recently visited Moccasin Springs in Hot Springs, SD during my Spring Break trip, as I wanted to soak in the various pools ("hot springs"). On my most recent visit to this area, I ran out of time for this, so I made it a priority this time. It is $25 for a "drop-in" soak without a reservation, which I found to be reasonable. I brought everything I needed (i.e. towels, swimsuit, etc.), but those would be an additional cost if you need to rent items. The reception staff were very friendly and explained everything clearly to a newcomer like myself. It was about 50-55 and sunny on the March day that I visited, so the hottest pools felt very nice! My personal favorite was the lower/larger "hot tub" that is slightly cooler (around 104 that day), as I found this temperature to be very comfortable. The upper/smaller "hot tub" was nice, too, but at 107, I could only stand to be in that one for about 10 minutes in one sitting before getting too hot. The other two larger pools (more like a regular heated pool temperature) were a bit chilly on a day that was only in the 50's, but these would be great in the summer! I really enjoyed the ambiance of this place, and I found it to be very relaxing and rejuvenating. Being a teacher, I feel like this will help me go back to school reenergized next week to finish out the school year! It seemed crowded when I first arrived (around 10:30 on a weekday), but it thinned out quickly. When it seemed more crowded, some of the people weren't exactly following the "quiet voices" rule, but this got better later. For a while, I was one of the only people there! Then, more people began arriving, but everyone in that later group was quiet. I stayed until about 12:30, and a couple hours seemed adequate. I would definitely return, and it would be nice to maybe try a spa treatment next time, too, if I am able! This was very relaxing and enjoyable!

This place is the real deal. We read a lot of reviews before arriving, and we read the "know before you go." Both are definitely recommended beforehand.
Fees as of June 2022 for a drop-in and swim/relax in the pools is $25/person. Adults only (18 y/o and older). And quiet. Just hearing whispered or low conversations and the waterfalls.
This is not a big property, but it has a very unique way of spreading out this little piece of paradise. Everything is presented in a very high-class, professional way. There are two small hot (~100F) pools, a medium warm pool, and a large lap pool (also warm). BUT, a drop-in does end there! There are reclining chairs, rocking chairs, a warm room, showers, tables, and other amenities to use for your relaxation (all included in the fee). Lockers also are available (no fee).
We did not use the massage or dining on premises.

This is a spa with spring water pools. The fact that it is adults only, makes it quiet and great for relaxation. The large pool is warm, nothing really special, but the smaller pools are really the hot ones, just that they are very small so people has to wait to get in. The bathroom facilities were very clean and well prepared.
We enjoyed this hot springs more than any other we visited before

I recently went to Moccasin Springs with my mother and daughter.

Starting with the positives—The pools and their surroundings are wonderful. The restaurant was delicious with good service. My mom’s massage was great, according to her. Mine, however, was subpar and definitely not worth the money. I had booked an appointment with another masseuse and was not informed they switched me to another one. When I asked about it, I was told they were confused because it was her day off.

My daughter booked a 20 minute session in their “wellness room”... once they got her situated with the the treatments, they told her they would be back to take the infared machine off of her. When I finished my massage, I asked where she was and only then did they realize they had left her in there for close to an hour (she couldn’t get out). She was hot and extremely uncomfortable, also starting to panic because no one was coming to help her. I mentioned this at checkout and received no apologies or any sense of remorse. My biggest complaint is the customer service; they came across as arrogant and unapologetic even when they were clearly in the wrong.

I will not be booking services in the future.

WARNING: they do not enforce their own COVID RULES (masks in lobby) and they won’t let you look and see how crowded the pools are before buying entrance ticket. Lobby gets very crowded because check in process is slow.

This is a beautiful and pleasant place to take a break from driving and camping —well-worth the entrance fee. (Over 55 is discounted). You could bring in a picnic (no glass bottles) and spend a wonderful 4 hours here.

Great relaxing outdoor hot spring pools with 4 temperatures perfect for rest and relaxation or to stretch out and feel good! Two tiny hot water then warm bath/pools, then you walk through a little cabin to larger warmer pools and the cooler pool. Bring a towel, swim suit and a snorkel if you’d like. They have on site showers, shampoo and body wash and changing rooms. Cost about $26 a person.

This was such a great way to relax and unwind after hours of driving . It was very clean and nice. I loved all of the different pools. We could get hot from the upper pool and then go to the larger pool and cool down. Beautiful water were you can see the rock bottoms. Crystal clear and refreshing.

I love how the staff asks you to keep your voices down for the other quests. It was very quiet and relaxing. We didn’t want to leave. Could have stayed there all day.

We were drop in soaks and for only $20 you can stay as long as you like. What an incredible bargain. Loved every minute of our soaks.

Decided to drive to Hot Springs, SD on a whim as a day trip from Custer State Park. Absolutely a good decision. We opened up trip advisor for ideas on what to see. Very few reviews made us a little skeptical. Cost for walk up day pass was 18.00 but health care workers get additional 20% off so it was a very reasonable 15.00 for me. There are four outdoor pools to soak in. 103-92 degrees. These are concrete sides. Two have natural bottom and two are concrete bottoms. Do not expect a pristine shiny pool. The grounds are beautiful. The bathrooms were very nice...all very spa like. A few lounge chairs around, several tables and chairs too. It was not crowded on a Sunday for us at all. You can rent a towel but we had our own. Spa services here also but they were booked for the day. Definitely do not hesitate to go. You won’t be sorry.

We found this spa and hot springs online and decided it was a something we needed to experience. There are 4 separate outdoor pools fed by the hot springs. 103, 98, 93, and 88 degrees. We enjoyed each one and there were only a few other people there so we didn't worry too much about social distancing and masks. We wore masks in the building and they were required inside. A peaceful place.

Moccasin Springs was a really disappointing experience. It is apparently a mecca for the elderly crowding into the already too small warm pools leaving the cooler pools with no seating the only place for others to go.

We waited 35 minutes for 2 tiny tacos and a burger after an underwhelming soak.

If there's 20 people there it's too full.
