This food tour was GREAT! Mike is a fabulous tour guide and is very knowledgeable about the city. We started at Fountain Square and ended in OTR. Along the way we stopped at various restaurants and enjoyed the many murals painted on the buildings. On this particular tour we stopped at We Olive, Huit, Avril-Bleh & Sons Sandwich Shop and Deli, Venice on Vine, Brezel, and Graeter's. By the end of tour I was stuffed! Make sure you come very hungry. My favorite food on this tour was the goetta rueben sandwich from Avril-Bleh, hands down best rueben I've ever had.

Definitely recommend this tour to everyone! Whether you are in town just visiting or you have lived in the area your entire life. Guarantee you will learn something you did not know and eat some great food along the way!

My wife and I, along with another couple, went on this tasting tour. I am a vegetarian, so I wasn't really that enthused about it, but everyone else wanted to go. I am SO glad that we went. It was a great tour and we learned so much about the City and its history in addition to tasting great food from many local places.

We met our tour guide, Mike, at the fountain in Fountain Square. It was a cold day on January 31st, and there were many people ice skating and enjoying downtown. Mike is very personable and charismatic. We knew we would like him within a few minutes of meeting him.

We were the only four people on the tour - probably due to the time of year and cold weather. It involves walking outside between stops.

This tour is a great way to sample the food and see where you might want to come back later. Others have commented that the portions aren't huge - it is a tasting tour not a buffet. However, we did get a decent portion at each stop and I was pretty full by the time we were only 1/2 way through

We went into Hathaways - a historic diner right across the street - to try milkshakes from a bygone era. Delicious!

We went to Via Vite to try a meatball and sit looking right into the kitchen. This was very cool. I gave my meatball to a friend, but still had a good time.

Mike asked if we wanted to also go to Skyline Chili - we said yes. They served chili dogs with cheese, which everyone loved. Mike even ordered for me - a meatless chili with bun and cheese - very nice of him and it tasted great!

Never been to Tom + Chee before - Mike said it was on Shark Tank. We each were provided 1/2 a glazed donut grilled cheese. This was amazing! My friend returned the favor for the meatball by giving me his donut here.

It's Just Crepes is a stop listed on the website, but they are now out of business, so we obviously didn't go there.

We went to a little deli on Court Street, and everyone loved it as well. I bought a spicy dill pickle from the counter - it was delicious!

Venice on the Vine was next. The owner came and talked to us about their company and how they give back to the community by helping at-risk youth and others. The pizza was very good too.

We finished with Graeters Ice Cream back in Fountain Square. My coconut & dark chocolate was excellent, and this is where we parted ways with Mike.

Be sure to tip well - Mike does a great job!! The whole tour took right around 2-1/2 hours.

Mike did a great job of giving us an interesting introduction to the Queen City. With a small group, there's plenty of opportunity to ask questions as you go along. Mike has a real feel for the city and its people. This is not just an informative tour; it's a tour with a lot of heart.

This was our first "food" tour. I was staying a couple nights in Cincinnati with two teen/preteen boys and wanted to try something a little different that would be educational too. This fit the bill. We met our tour guide at the fountain in Fountain Square as well as the others on our tour. We stopped at 6 different places. One of the things I really liked about this tour was that he does not go to the same spots each time. He briefly surveyed our group and we collectively decided to skip Skyline Chili. Also at the end of the tour he was going to go back to the Fountain Square for our last stop (Graeter's) but mentioned there was another one near where we were (Over-the-Rhine neighborhood). When I asked if we could go to the closer one so we could stop at some of the shops we had passed on the way back, he switched it (I okayed it with the other group members too).
He told us a lot of the history of Cinci and introduced us to so local spots as well as unique food items. My kids may have been slightly bored at times but overall they really enjoyed it too.
As far as the food - I was stuffed, and ended up taking a doggie bag at the fourth & fifth stop (but I did leave room for Graeter's!).

Had a great tour with Mike. He choose some very tasty and unique eateries to share with us on the tour. He knows all the owners/chefs and we were treated like VIPs. Along the way he told us the back stories of the restaurants as well as some Cincinnati history. A great event for out of town guest or local foodies!

My wife and I went on this tour today. Our guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable and had a lot of information about the city, of which I was not aware. I am a Cincinnati native, but still learned a lot. The food was very good, and represented several varieties of restaurants. I would recommend this tour to either visitors or natives, with the understanding that it is a walking tour.

My husband, two sons, and I went on this tour Saturday, July 25, 2015. Mike was so excited to share his city and special restaurants with us. The walking was just enough, the food was delicious, and we learned some history along the way. It was a great tour. I highly recommend it.

My husband, daughter and I went on this tour and really enjoyed it. It was a great way to see the city and learn about the city. My daughter and I are vegetarians and Mike did a great job of offering vegetarian food at all the restaurants even though we told him it was ok if he couldn't. Very nice of him and a big plus for us !! We would highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Cincinnati - it is a beautiful city. We feel like we learned so much about the city and we were very full when we were done so go hungry!

Mike Van Oflen went above and beyond for our group of 3 from Chicago. Initially he indicated tours didn't start operating until April, but because the weather was going to be nice and because we were from Chicago and because we were fun, he agreed to open his tours for the weekend. We stopped at 7 different restaurants along our 3 1/2 hour tour and loved everything we had... strawberry milkshake, veal meatball, Coney dog with Cincinnati chili, pizza, varieties of grilled cheese donuts (especially liked The King made with bananas and peanut butter), a reuben-like sandwich and ice cream. Mike was a walking/talking history lesson and you could tell he loved what he does and the owners/managers at the establishments knew Mike. Great tour!!
