Went there for first time since grade school to look at planet Mars, the staff were knowledgable friendly about the planet Mars and the solar system. Even pointed out that the Space Station took 90 minutes to circle the Earth(and if you knew what you were looking at you could see it with without a telescope)

There are different nights the public is allowed for viewing through their telescope. Worth the time to come for a visit. Very peaceful...

Husband and I were out for an afternoon drive and we decided to stop by one of his favorite places. We were the only visitors and one of the staff personally toured us through the observatory.

Recenly my family and I visited the observatory on a rainy Sunday afternoon. They were short a few volunteers, but the one that did our tour was great! We visited due to my daughter's interest in completing a 3rd grade history report on this historic Cincinnati landmark. The grounds were nice, buildings well kept, the tour interactive as the kids... It is a historical site like non other! It still functions as an Observatory. Go one night, it is fun for the whole family.(check schedule). It is the oldest operating Observatory in the country and an elegant trip back in time. There are two telescopes and you can observe through one of them. I know little about the celestial movements... More

Great historical observatory, with great programs through out the year. History of astronomy and meteorologists in America started in Cincinnati. The volunteers are great, knowledgeable, and gracious. The historical telescope you get to look through is pretty amazing considering the technology they used back in the 1800's.

I grew up in Cincinnati, drove by the observatory, and didn't visit until I was 40. What a shame! I was blown away. This place has it all. It's a beautiful facility with huge historical significance. It is incredibly interesting for anyone science minded. It's cheap. AND you get to look through a telescope at the moon!!

We love going to the events at the Observatory - from the public stargazing nights to Date Night special events, it's always a fun and unique time. We've managed to see both Saturn and Jupiter using the very large, old telescopes and the experience is second to none. The staff is so knowledgeable and obviously have a passion for what... More

Abandoned by the University of Cincinnati, the observatory has been restored, and its two telescopes (1842 and 1904) restored to operation. It is the place where weather forecasting began. Volunteers are knowledgeable, there are no crowds. It is a pleasant and educational way to spend several hours.
